Hardware Arpeggiators vs Software Arpeggiators

Just wanted to see if there's any advantage to one over the other. I'm used to using the arp in FL Studio but getting ready to buy a midi keyboard controller with an arp. I would like to know if there's any advantage to the hardware arp in terms of latency, control, etc...
I don't do live performance, so that's not an issue, but I'd like to get an idea of whether I should even concern myself with hardware arp features.

How it looks from my perspective: 416 Max4Live sequencers available for Ableton Suite. For free, that is.
I don't see a reason to purchase hardware sequencer unless you're into modular.
