I have no idea what an analog filter should sound like.
But for the sounds I'm usually after (saw, low octave, high resonant, filter fm -> bubbles or "chainsaws") No. 1 is best suited by far.

I've downloaded and will respond re my favourite.
Of course my favourite might not be the nearest to the actual thing it's trying to emulate. I rmeember back in the day not liking Wasp or Korg MS filters but everyone seems to think they are great these days. My recollection of the pro one that it was a more refined filter than either of those and brighter than the Roland SH2 filter I was used to.

congrats to this awesome emulation
i had this machine 10 years ago and used it for one record ("Analogien" if someone remembers)
and this emulation instantly nailed the sound - i don't care it it's 100% perfect .. but it sounds just great, like a real Pro One
can someone please put it in a controller box with all the knobs and sell it to me?

I voted for 1 but the truth is i could live with any of these and there are differents but not very huge (at least for my taste).
So in reality i just would like the one with the lowest cpu because i like to layer a lot and/or play my monophonic tools polyphonic via several instances etc.
Maybe i failed the theme here.....
However, it sounds and looks very very beautiful!
And that there is no clear winner (yet) it shows U-he did a great job.... as usual!

nice and gritty, but not too much (for my taste that is). I like 3 more thoughsmallville wrote:Filter 4 hands down

Simple test. One note, real Pro1 vs RePro. Filter #1 is the only one i could get to fizz the same as the real deal.

circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

quick (and dirty) non-scientific Filter 3 test, with oscB->cutoff, LFO and resonance automation:

Filters and sound aside, the brown background color of the preset browser seems to be too much for my Macbook - at least for the display. It's kind of swirling/flickering all the time (don't know how to describe this properly...). Reminds me somewhat of those old CRT displays. Anyone else noticed something similar? Or is this part of the analog emulation as well? (Just kidding...
).

A filter sweep at self oscillation and with the osc modulating cut off would be more interesting.shawnguess wrote:Simple test. One note, real Pro1 vs RePro. Filter #1 is the only one i could get to fizz the same as the real deal.

Check out this thread - we're collecting examples of the different relative gains of each waveform:shawnguess wrote:Simple test. One note, real Pro1 vs RePro. Filter #1 is the only one i could get to fizz the same as the real deal.

It lacks bottom end authority of an analog, otherwise filters 2-5 all sounds really very nice and even 1 would be just fine. Volume differences between the filter models makes comparisons a bit iffy, and on most actually used settings differences between 2-5 are way too small to make any difference whatsover. At more extreme settings the differences become more obvious, but as the character of the filter is the same, I'd be tempted to say that the additional detail probably isn't worth the CPU hit. In the end the they all sounds like algos anyway, #5 was my favourite.
