Bitwig 8 Track??

Recently bought a Nektar Impact LX88 and was curious about the Bitwig 8 Track freebie.Been waiting almost 24 hours and still haven't received my license key via e-mail....why all of this hassle over a f**king 8 track DAW??

Anyway...I'd like some opinions on this version of Bitwig and also wondering if anyone is having problems with receiving their license for it?

I think they are not working on the weekends. They are small team but friendly. Write to them and I'm sure they'll contact you.

I bought the 8-Tack first then I was hooked that I traded my S1 for the full version of Bitwig Studio. It's my main host since then.

The 8-track as its name indicates, is limited to 8 tracks with only 2 Vst instruments allowed and one vst effect per track. However, it comes with all instruments and effects that in the studio version. So it's kind of a light or demo version.

What I like most about Bitwig is that there is only one version (no separated 64 and 32bit versions). Also, all my 64bit and 32bit vst/i are showing in the browser.

Go-to DAW? With 8 tracks, and 2 VST's max? That's gonna be some difficult track writing then.

Since I have 3 other Daw's(including Mixcraft 7,which also has 64/32 bit support)...I'm not at all concerned with how many bells & whistles the 8 track version has(but I am very pleased with knowing that all of Bitwigs's instruments & effects are included)...which makes me wonder why anyone would complain about Bitwig's limits on this version(especially since Nektar's Impact series is a tremendous value,in of itself.)

Well, when they register it to you and you install it in two computers, the two machines would appear with their names under "Registered Hosts". I'm not sure if the maximum installations are two machines or more.

There is offline activation option, but I have never used it.

There are three main instruments in Bitwig: Polysynth, FM4 and Drum machines. Those you can use them along the 8 tracks. The Drum Machine is like the Drum racks in Ableton Live, which means all the different drums sub tracks would be considered one of the 8 tracks. So, for a minimalist person, it might be more than enough For me, however, I needed more than the 8 scenes in the Clip Launcher and it also feels good to feel unlimited

I just think that there has got to be a better way of securing the use of the Bitwig 8 track,then leaving a new user hanging for an inordinate amount of time(for basically a demo version.)
Regarding the limitations of the 8 track version...well...I am far from being a minimalist,when it comes to creating music....so for me,the 8 track version is simply a means for me to supplement my songs and having a no-cost way for me to fiddle with new sounds as song-starters,is exciting.
Aside from my Mixcraft DAW,I also have Reason 7 and Studio One v3...so I already have an unlimited studio to work with(the Bitwig will merely serve as a smattering of extra icing on the cake.)

Bear in mind there is no 'direct' ReWire support in Bitwig (you need 3rd party configuration). When I had Reason 7/8, that was a deal breaker for me, but then I sold Reason and found Bitwig with its modulations abilities is more than enough for me. I can't say I don't miss Reason really, but sometimes I need to make sacrifices if I believe the end result could be better.

All I can say, I'm very happy with Bitwig and the integration with my BeatStep is excellent. I don't have GAS for other hosts anymore Only that I'm looking for version 2, which I will upgrade to it definitely when it comes.

Personally...I never wanted to be bothered with Rewire and the only issue I have with Reason,is their lack of script upgrades in their samplers.
Otherwise though,Reason offers a particular character of sound I can't live without(& the 3rd party developers that create new Refills are brilliant.)Also...some of their Rack Extensions are amazing.
I understand your desire to work from a single DAW(I originally wanted that as well)...but then I realized that was an unrealistic concept,as there was no single DAW that gave me everything I wanted(which is true of most users,I think.)
