Might there be interest in scale models of hardware?

I'm thinking 1:12 scale, which is not only one of the most common dollhouse scales, but is also becoming popular with action figures. 1-inch=1-foot. 6" figures. You can get plenty of Marvel, DC, and Star Wars characters in this scale.

I need to pay for my filthy 3d modeling habit, so I'm trying to come up with any ideas I can.

I would upload the models to Shapeways, and you could purchase the prints from them.

Synths, controllers, interfaces, guitars...any music gear you need.

I'm desperate. Throw me a bone here. :hihi:

At minimum, what are some pretty popular pieces of hardware in KVRians' studios? :?:

Be it MIDI controllers, analog synths...whatever.

I don't know HW at all, but I can model just about anything.

I was thinking of starting with an ARP 2600, but I can certainly find something else, if there's more interest in something else. :)

Hmmm...could do a Seaboard RISE, too, to match the real one I'll be getting. :hyper:

If you're selling through Shapeways, probably best to do some 'classic', recognisable stuff first; MS20, Minimoog, etc etc ie Stuff that will appeal to a wider range of non-KVR people too.

Doable. Thanks! :tu:

A Moog Moduiar for Ken? .:)

I'm down for that. :D

EDIT: I'd love to see miniatures of modular synths if that's at all possible.

Yup, was certainly thinking of modulars, too! :)

How'd you like to see a System 55? :)

How convenient, Sweetwater even gives the dimensions. :tu:

However, I don't get a view of the back. Anyone know how that might look?

Will the miniatures work? I want to get a live mouse and teach it him to play. Then he can open for...

Ab-so-freaking-lutely! 100%-operational miniature synths! They even SOUND tiny! :hyper:

Your mouse will love them!

Okay, Moog Sub Phatty will be one of the first I model. They just look so cool. Love the profile. :tu:

Working on a 1:12-scale figure to go with the synths, as well. :)

What about "hardware" versions of softsynths? :)

You may want to check this thread where a member created/printed an ms20 keychain.

Thanks, GaryG! :)

I must admit that seeing that thread a while back gave me the initial idea, but I won't be making key chains, rather they'll be scale miniatures offered in higher-detailed plastic (I doubt most of my models will be appropriate for metal prints as many of the parts will be too small to be printed in metal, as you can see with the patch cable on that KORG key chain.

I also doubt I'll brand mine. They'll be presented as generic versions of famous synths.

I'll find out pretty quickly if there's any sustainable interest in a project like this. If not, I'll abandon it and go to the next thing. :)

I just need to come up with enough cash to pay for my software subscription. It's a hobby I've had for the last 18 years. I don't care if I make more than that (though it'd be nice. ;) ).

2d template for the Sub Phatty coming along nicely. Profile's about perfect, getting all the knobs and i/o laid out. :)

I'll need to put a special Thank You in for Sweetwater for their awesome selection of photos and detailed dimensions!

If you're worried about costs then why not use this? It's fully free and rather sophisticated!
