Hm yes would be very good. (moratorium ? hm then it is clear, did not hear before).

But UVI never applied for a forum on KVR, they don't want one. Just search this thread for answers.

I love chaos.

on page 161 Olivier - otristan - replied to the question about having a UVI forum here at kvr:

"As we have already stated, this won't happen.
Creating our own forum would mean that this is an official way to get support and we don't want that.
We already have an official way of support and it is through our website."

Well, although it also no problem, if support feel more convenient by this way, main thing that they are here.

Low note priority; high note priority; last note priority -in Mono mode, would allow the use of TWO of those processor intensive sounds we all love to create.

As a keyboard player and not a sequencer user I’m all about real time improvisation.

So I respectfully ask for the ability to play two monophonic lines independently.
i.e. set the sound for the left hand to low note priority and the right hand to high note priority.

@newuser2014
Looks like a way to achieve something which can be done way more easily

1) Using Layer MIDI range available in layer section of List view (you may need to right click the column view header to add those columns display)
3) Two part with specific range set in Performance page

This allows as well to have a left hand arpeggiator while the right hand do the lead.

Note priority does make sense for monophonic lines, though... So, if layer play mode is set to some of Mono modes, don't you think it wouldn't hurt to have low/high/last note priority dropdown?

Post

I would be happy to hear use case for those (besides legacy reason)

Having a split with two monophonic sounds - a bass and a lead, bass would usually have low note priority (like on MiniMoog), lead either high or last note priority. Emulating duophonic synthesizers as mentioned above (low + high note priority).

One-upping Kontakt which cannot do this kind of stuff per-group? :)

@Olivier: Has UVI ever thought about transitioning their software protection mechanism to a different, preferably more reliable, technology? I originally had accepted the dongle-less soft iLok as a reasonable compromise to the horrors of extortion replacement policies associated with iLok dongles, but I got a big dose of reality thrown in my face today.

I do not know which recent software update or Windows update that I allowed to be installed on my Windows 10 PC led to iLok License Manager suddenly recognizing my notebook PC as a brand new location; no hardware had been changed on my PC. (The only major thing I did was update the firmware on my network router today; however, complications arising from that firmware update did keep my PC disconnected from the internet for a while).

25 iLok activations, 12 of which were for UVI software packages, became instantly orphaned. :dog:

I contacted iLok Support; the only solution they would offer was for me to contact directly the seven software publishers of my iLok protected software and request new activation keys for the 25 different products I had activated. That solution would have been a major headache, so I grasped for other ideas...

Using Windows System Restore, I rolled the state of my PC back a week. Despite System Restore informing me on Windows restart that it had failed to complete (due to an unspecified error) and assuring me that my files and settings were unchanged; changes had been made to my system. The most important change being that iLok License Manager had gone back to recognizing my PC's original location ID; that was all I needed to deactivate all 25 licenses attached to the PC's original location ID. :phew:

After a complete revert of the partially-failed System Restore, the iLok License Manager went back to recognizing my PC with the new location ID, of course. While I am now free to reactivate my software licenses to the PC's new location ID, I just do not feel comfortable doing that. This issue could suddenly happen again, and there is no guarantee that the Windows System Restore would be able to bail me out the next time that it happens.

I have learned my lesson: no more will I ever purchase iLok-protected software again; that means I am done with purchasing protected libraries or add-ons for Falcon. If this location-ID-changing-fiasco continues to happen with the PACE Licensing Service, I will completely uninstall all of my iLok protected software from my PC, and then hold my breath until I turn blue and pass out. Life is too short to waste on the nuisance of software protection. There are other forms of chaos that could be embraced instead.

Before anyone suggests that I swear off PCs and buy a Mac instead, I am just too far down the PC rabbit hole to ever be able to find my way back out of it.

@Tonedef71: I agree, even if this is a hopeless cause it seems. I'll be installing the OS on a new HD soon and will have to de-register all my iLok stuff just in case, or risk what happened to you. iLok is like bringing in a co-owner of your PC that can veto certain changes at will.

I was very reluctant to get Falcon due to iLok and to this day I have a tinge of regret that I caved. I love Falcon, but the hassle I brought upon myself takes a lot of the edge off my enthusiasm. Extra software running in the background, required reboots after upgrades, the near-constant dread that some hardware or software update might trip the iLok up. And yes, this has happened to me already. Thus my worry.

With the 1.1 update the PACE service suddenly refused to start by itself despite multiple un-/reinstalls so I had to go into services and start it manually every time before I started my DAW or get a license error. The time it took me to locate that obscure problem was plain wasted, not to mention nothing seemed to fix it (the error message iLok gives you is completely generic). More time wasted. With the 1.1.1 install it went away just like it appeared: for no apparent reason.

After years of hassle free license management with all my other software, iLok has brought a lot of complications, general annoyance and dread to the mere act of starting up my DAW. There were several times since buying into iLok with Falcon that I've thought of selling Falcon again because every time I load it up, my initial gut impulse is a tinge of dread, due to potential iLok glitches or nuisances I have sadly grown to expect over the last months. iLok has certainly made me less likely to use Falcon on impulse. When I use it, it's usually a premedidated act.

Anyway, just to get on record. I know ilok power users love it and many have had no problems at all, ever, but with me, absolutely all my prior fears and prejudices were confirmed within mere weeks and I'd pay good money to be able to use Falcon with a less invasive and more fail-safe (on the user end) DRM scheme than iLok. I've never before thought of selling software I bought, but iLok has made me seriously consider it with Falcon, several times, and I may do it yet.

Starting up Falcon with iLok feels like filing your tax return: You know you've done everything right, but you don't know if the other guy will agree. And you know that if he doesn't, you're in for a world of pain.

Post

Whew.

Although up to now I have not had any problems, I will copy and keep your solution for 'you never know'.

Thanks!

Yeah, most of those soft-dongles are too clever for their own good. I had exactly the same happen to me with my (not many) waves plugins which lost their activation about once a month, telling me I had an all new machine. In the end I was no longer able to re-activate. I should have transferred the licenses to a dongle or stick, but realised it too late.
Falcon and the other iLok stuff I have I licensed to a hardware dongle which is at least less of a random factor. So far I never broke a dongle (knock on wood) and the ability to move my licenses around at will is something I actually like about dongles - I'm used to them for a long time from my 3D-software...

But I'd much prefer a system like u-he, they are about the least intrusive while still having good and clever protection AFAIK.

Cheers,

Tom

Don't want to go into the holy iLok war but rest assured that our support will always find a solution even if it means sending you back new authorization.
The usual wise thing before installing a new OS, changing some hardware stuff, stuff like that is to
unauthorize and then authorize it back. The iLok key avoid this, but I could understand the pain in having a physical dongle.
But in any case, we will always make it right for our customer. We offer 3 activations per authorization so you will never have any downtime in any case.

See, I am even answering on a Saturday :)
