That's correct.

This, I've been waiting for something like this for a while!

This is so much like porn: The real thing is out there that you can touch and play with but no, let's watch it on a screen....

The real thing also costs an arm and a leg in comparison.

On this forum, of all places, we shouldn't need to justify the relative merits of software emulations. I have plenty of the real thing, and I can still see how it would be great to have this in software.

My big concern is the "pay by the module" add-ons. I really want to know what the pricing will be on those. As for the drums, I do have Heartbeat, so I'm hoping that means I'll get those modules without paying for them a second time.

I find this all very tempting. I like this approach very much, except for the equal concern of the cost of add-on modules. I know it says $29-$49 for additional modules, but that can definitely add-up quickly. I'm also curious if there will be bundle options for purchasing multiple modules at either a single time, or simply multiple modules of a particular licensed brand/manufacturer.

I'm also a heartbeat owner and from what I've seen, it definitely seems that way, that we would have access to the Heartbeat modules simply by owning Heartbeat the plugin.

I was just considering upgrading to Reaktor 6, but I'll probably just remain patient for K11 and that'll give enough time to see how everything gets marketed and priced.

I am guessing it's going to be a CPU hog.

We will probably have access to a ton of modules but will only be able to use so many (few) before the CPU starts giving out. The Softube quality comes at a price.

I'd be interested in this down the line, on sale, if the HeartBeat modules can be purchased separately (without owning Heartbeat). I had Heartbeat and sold it. I loved the modules but didn't use any of the other functionality of the plugin aside from the included limited version of Dyna-mite, which I ended up purchasing separately (the full version) because I like it so much, and wanted to use it on individual drum sounds.

Heartbeat is nice though. But, high CPU, and I already have lots of good alternatives. I would have kept it, but I needed to finance "The Drop". Would love to get the Heartbeat modules back eventually, but not Heartbeat.

I can see it being difficult to buy boutique virtual modules for $49 each when the entire host program is only $99. That would definitely add up quickly. I guess we'll see how that goes. Still, I'd been thinking about picking up some of the Mutable Instruments modules, and it would be rather enticing to buy them in software for a fraction of the price. I wonder how many manufacturers are going to jump on board...

You say that like it's a bad thing. Imagine actually being on a porn set...gross.

Why am I not exited about it... at all.

Also, I think it badly needs a keyboard module. Maybe Waldorf could make one?

With two 18y old girls? I'd do it without hesitation anywhere, anytime :hyper:
But good to know that you rather touch yourself in private than girls in a studio ^^

You can see how they are probably planning to leverage Modular to drive sales of their other plugins too - need a reverb module? You need to buy Tsar and you get the modular version too - same with Mutron etc - they could do this for many of their plugins. Modular is their gateway drug.

and with module prices of $29-49 and iLok transfer fees of $25-50, you might never get that monkey off your back.

I agree with the porn comments, this is just photorealistic pictures of real eurorack modules so you can build a virtual eurorack....but why? I have spent about two grand on eurorack to make a hardware instrument to get away from computers....when I use my computer (often!) I use VSTs that were designed for the computer environment so have GUIs suitable for mouse interaction and virtually no limitations on routing/modular sources etc (just use BITWiG or Reactor)

I don't think this has much to do with music, it's just pretending you have a eurorack....why would anyone want to pay per module when it's free in Reaktor 6?
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!
