No, he did it proper, no comprosises 100% synthetic

...and 100% dull, but im not a fanboi. I prefer artists who made more creative use of synths, including incorporating them with other instruments.

I think you picked the wrong band there, don't remember any significant guitar moments in ELPs stuff at all, maybe the band in the list who did more to make Synths popular in pop music than anyone.

I hope you meant that ironically, if not...

Ok I can see I am in a minority here lol..
(IMHO...H=Humble in this case)
I remember my first experience of Jarre was when my Dad sat me in front of the TV to watch the Rendezvous Houston concert (the event was so big that it had to be broadcast on radio so the people at the back could listen in time with the light show..and I think it still might hold the record for the biggest ever concert...not sure on that though)...and I was hooked.
I have seen him live twice...first time was at Wembley Stadium (The Old 'Two Towers' stadium) on the Chronologie tour...and then at Wembley Arena where he was doing a tour to show his transition from analog to digital.
I agree he has done some duff stuff but the majority of his tunes I really like and he has been a big inspiration in my own music (I just love it when he uses his arps and sequencers)..and yes he can get quite cheesy but seeing him on stage backed by a 100 voice choir is pretty impressive along with his use of lasers and screens the like of which I havent seen since.
His Tiananmen Square gig, the audience was split into 4 blocks...each block having its own surround sound system which was pretty cool...also hearing his stuff at that gig translated by the Beijing orchestra was pretty cool too...then straight after the gig he jumped into the sidecar of a motorcycle to be whisked off for a more intimate gig.
I dunno...I just like him a great deal but this is just My Humble Opinion....its a toss up as to what my fave album is...but I think it boils down to either Chronologie or Revolutions.
He is a chip off the old block (his Dad being Maurice Jarre) and me and a lot of my friends have been enjoying him for many years.

Don't get me wrong, I really, really like some of his music! I even listen to it pretty regulary, but I just don't think he is such a big innovator or pioneer as people often claim he is.

He basically is the synth version of Michael Jackson. Both made fantastic music, both do (did) pretty epic shows, but both didn't exactly make music that makes me think about it for longer then 5 seconds, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
