Omni midi tracks in Studio One 3 yet?

I have Cubase, but in every DAW I've used (including the 'base lol) there's an option to have a midi track's channel input set to omni. I sold Studio One 3 for a few reasons, but I'm thinking of buying it back because there were some features that I really liked from it. But I want to know: Did omni midi tracks ever find it's way into Studio One within the past year?

If not, I can't believe that it's missing from a modern DAW like Studio One, considering how good it is with midi.

I guess not.

No idea. I don't know what you mean by Omni midi tracks. Maybe if you describe what you mean by that someone can answer, or grab the demo and see if it does what you want it to do.

Recording from all MIDI channels at once on a single track.

Well, not really. For starters, it doesn't support sysex, MIDI meta events, release velocity, (N)RPN, 14-bit CC in its MIDI editor... And those are kinda basics.

Ok, thanks Ed. Nope.

It's not built that way and there is no midi channel data in midi clips there, all of the channelization happens at the track level, not the clip level, by design, so you can't have a single clip or track playing multiple midi channels.

Again, basics missing :)

I have no desire to do the perpetual daw war contest thing. I'll leave that to you guys.

I was only curious what he meant since noboby had answered.

Wow, yet in 20 years of music making with midi I have never needed any of those 'basic' features! That said, I still think quantise is cheating....
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

If by "Omni MIDI input" you mean being able to use multiple MIDI keyboards/controllers to act as the MIDI input on a track, then yes. I can jump seamlessly back and forth between my digital piano plugged into my RME Fireface and my Akai MPK61 without having to worry about changing the MIDI input device or doing any extra setup. I can even play and record from both at once. I came to Studio One at version 2.5, but I don't remember that ever being an issue.

If that's not what you're talking about, then please elaborate.

I just tried setting up 14bit MIDI CC's over the weekend in Studio One (was setting up a Novation Remote Zero SL) and that's how I found that wasn't supported, so I can officially say I wanted that feature and it wasn't there. Release velocity is great when you have sample based instruments that support it. And sysex? I never use it, but if I was running a MIDI based studio, that'd be a huge deal so I get that. Let's not forget SMPTE and MTC sync'ing. My point: there's definitely a lot to still be done on the MIDI side, but it also depends on how much you use MIDI in the first place, particularly hardware.

No DAW does everything well, and every now and then I'll get frustrated by something "basic" (to me) that Studio One doesn't do (this weekend it was 14-bit CC's and not being able to assign two controllers to map to a single plugin). That said, it's still my first choice DAW, and I was very pleased with the direction 3.2 went in. It's still relatively young, but very advanced for it's age IMO.

What I was talking about was the ability to control/play back more than one midi channel on a track. It was answered in this thread that Studio One still can't do this. That's ridiculous.

For example, some of my guitar libraries have the ability to use midi channels for string selection.

The only way to do this in S1 is to do one midi channel per track, which is highly undesirable.
