Please re-download the beta version. The old "Adjust Note Lengths" variation is enabled again. If you say it is useful, I believe you...

Sorry I was completely wrong, the notes are not shaded according to velocity in the phrase editor. What causes the confusion is that the original note quality is colored, not according to the actual note height. E.g. If you move a chord note up by a semitone, it remains to be a chord note, only the note offset changes. The note quality (kind) can be set either in the note inspector (right click on notes) or in the Note Mapping menu at the top of the editor. First you need to decide if the phrase you are editing has harmonic content, if so, you should use only chord relative notes. If you design a melody phrase, you can work with scale-relative notes, but it is not a good practice to mix chord-relative and scale-relative notes in one phrase.

The same note can be chord note, scale note, bass note or absolute note:

There will be more coloring options in the phrase editor soon.

I do not want to be a person who is always something to remind))
but I think it's time to recall the options are "forced to set the note position on the nearest chord (or scale)"
By the way I have for some reason instead of downloaded beta 15 beta 14!

the waiting was absolutely be worth it, I am (nearly) speechless

.

Its so logical organized in this toolbar where you have integrated the idea tool, you can switch to wherever you want/neen to go, absolutely brilliant.

I know I am lightyears behind all the great folks in hear (I must admit I understand not a quarter of thinks talked about) but I now have THE starting point I ever dreamt of.

I can start with a more or less automatically generated tune, import as midi, and then add tracks over the idea tool, change things as I need with the phrase or note editor, turn back and forth (maybe someday I will even get to know what all this phrase envelope editing is all about

).

Will be questions enough on the way to a real smooth workflow, but that dont matter. It is just the thing I was hoping for, many, many thanks for this great work.

Sorry for just in same time adding first bug I think I found, at least it happens evrytime

In the second track I have added "strumming" as variation. Whenever I try to remove, there goes RC....

Windows 7, 64 bit, 3.0b15

EDIT: seems to be content specific, removed the track, added just a simple bass generator and only strumming as variation, then I can remove. Maybe I did something which logically wont work ?

Ok maybe I'm stupid but where, in the new Idea Tool, am I supposed to put the "phrases to use"?

I can get it to generate like 64 bars of a chord progression, but there's no phrases in there....

Am I missing something? Thanks, all!

Wait, I see it now.... I did "new composition" instead of using what I had there, before. My piano track was oddly a "Group Track" (don't know what that's about)... but, yeah.. all the Idea Tool parameters are now there, dope.

I like the new Idea Tool implementation. One snag I hit- using the "light bulb" on a track "excludes" it from the idea tool, but I can't figure out how to bring it back ?

In phrase window the play with unmutet tracks button do only play 1 long note and not correct what single play do. can hear when all tracks except this are mute very good. before beta 14 it work. should i do a video ?

look good with new idea tool. With F3 i can get the new idea tool. But how i can quit idea tool, so i can edit as before ?

There is no wiki yet about the idea tool, but it will come shortly.

"Phrases To Use" means the number of phrases that will be used in the track. If there are more phrases in the list (of possible phrases), the specified number of phrases will be chosen from the list. If for example there is only one phrase generator in the list, and "phrases to use" is 3, then 3 different phrases will be generated using that phrase generator.

You can use rhythm patterns. Again, a number of rhythm patterns will be chosen from the list. When any rhythm patterns are specified, the rhythm in the phrase generators will be replaced. This works for most phrase generators, except for Fingerpicking, which does not use an external rhythm.

You need to make the track larger vertically and the light bulb appears. You can resize the track vertically by dragging the bottom edge.

Yes, please make a short video, I am not sure I understand the problem.

Click on Settings / Keyboard shortcuts to check the assignments.
F1: Phrase Editing mode
F2: Note Editing mode
F3: Idea Tool mode
F4: Phrase Envelope Editing mode

You can also click on the 'mode' menu:
