I have successfully connected an iPad to Windows 10 via Bluetooth, and have gotten midi wrench to send note on note off into the PC through rtpmidi, but haven't gotten the connection to come out of fiddlewax (firo). Do I need something like midi designer or midi bridge to serve as a middle ground on the iPad?

MusicIO or Apollo can handle MIDI via Bluetooth or USB tether.
Is MIDI output turned on in Fiddlewax?

Yes, but they both talk about Midi le which (as I understand it) isn't exactly supported on PC.

Alright, so, at least on my system (iPad Air 2, Windows 10 aio with Bluetooth running rtpmidi), I can connect with midi wrench and pass note ons thru the air into the daw.
Can't get there with any other iPad app: midi bridge was a bust, but maybe I haven't worked it long enough.
Still trying to decide about midi designer; it's pricey ($25) for an app that may not work, either.

Maybe wrong but I thought rptmidi was meant to work over wifi not Bluetooth.
Also the website says it only works up to win7.

I'm pretty sure Mididesigner won't help you.

Rtpmidi says its using bonjour, (which I think means wifi) which I have no idea how to configure. Odd that it's using the same port names as Bluetooth. So who knows. The lag is negligible, but the keyboard is so tiny, I can only use it to audition patches on the workstation. Unless I don't care what notes I hit.

MIDIDesigner won't work for this application. It's more for creating custom MIDI interfaces.
