Apple 'abandons' QuickTime on Windows

'The only mitigation available is to uninstall QuickTime for Windows.'

For those concerned about IK products that utilize QuickTime as an optional part of the installation, please note that AmpliTube 4 does not install QuickTime at all (even as an option). You are all set with AmpliTube 4 even if you fully remove QuickTime from your Windows system. T-RackS does offer QuickTime as an optional component of its installation and once you remove QuickTime from your Windows system you will not be able to import MP3 files into T-RackS standalone, but everything else will function as expected.

I'd imagine that for the moment, possibly proprietary wrappers would be used in pc land.
With windows-compat video NLEs plus existing DAWs with video support, though, i'm wondering if a new platform will end up being adopted on both platforms, for the sake of cross platform simplicity of dev, and some semblance of feature parity?

If this is how it goes, it'd be amazing to finally see something like QT+flip4mac (and how they're integrated) in pc-land...

...unless, of course, OS's are just building in the codecs as part of their native capability these days.
i know win10 seems to be able to play at least some QT stuff, as can my phone (without QT installed).
don't know about renders, though...
