ASIO Overload

I'm using Cubase 6.5 on a Windows laptop with 4GB RAM, I'm also running a Zoom R24 audio interface.

I'm getting an ASIO overload, I've tried disabling plug-ins, removing plug-ins, changing buffer rate, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but I still get distortion and noise on playback.

Would starting a new song help, does anyone have any other advice?

Did your audio interface work correctly on the same setup?
Try to check up the power settings of OS. What option is choosen? You need "Best performance" to work with audio.

Thank you for the reply, the setup was working fine, then one day it wasn't. I'll check the power settings.

When I run into anomolies like this I typically just close the DAW and all related programs, do a restart and most of the times any gremlins are eliminated. The longer you leave the machine running, the more you may run into problems.

If what you are working on is important then first save your work. Save the clips and samples too if you can. Save everything you can separately and make notes - which VST's for what, etc.

Hopefully you will be able to go back to it after the restart, but at least you will have what you need to rebuild the composition if need be.

Your ASIO problems may also be related to a WIFI adaptor or another problematic latency device.
