got a question about st2, i upgraded from version 1, everything's lovely so far except that the guitar and clav patches that had wah-wah on the modwheel, don't seem to have the modwheel assigned anymore
i know i gotta be doing something wrong, maybe missing something simple... please help a brutha out!

This is because there is a new flexible way of making those modulation settings in ST2. All you have to do is hit the "midicntrl" button at the top of the interface and then next click on the parameter (any parameter in fact) that you want to control. If it is the wah then go into that effect and click the parameter you want to affect with the modwheel. Then a pop up message will show up where you can assign which midi controller you want. Modwheel is one of the first ones. You can even set a min and max to get more subtle.
After you do all of this just save your settings back with the save button on the right side of the module.
I know it is not as convenient but it is more flexible so it is a tradeoff.
