[quote="Aloysius"]I was listening to his Greatest Hits Vol.2 the other day, thinking what a weird guy he is. I've also been listening to a lot of older music and hearing where he got a lot of his 'inspiration' from. Hardly a genius. More a case of ... Good Artists Copy; Great Artists Steal.
A genius.......maybe not but a greater musician would be hard 2 find. O(+>

This is the oddest death. RIP Prince, you were the greatest musician in history.
Hard to find youtube stuff which is sad. There is so much jaw-dropping stuff he's done that isn't "mainstream" and even that was heavily censored.

Here come the exaggerations and superlatives again that are often thrown around when someone diesincubus wrote:This is the oddest death. RIP Prince, you were the greatest musician in history.

Except Frank Zappa, was there a more accomplished polymath musician than Prince?fluffy_little_something wrote:Here come the exaggerations and superlatives again that are often thrown around when someone dies
Looking past his song writing and albums, the guy could play a lot of instruments with the best of 'em

Left of center all the way for sure. Not Hollywood, San Francisco, Miami or New Orleans. He built his mansion in Minneapolis

Maybe he was a gifted musician, a virtuoso even, but somehow his music and playing never really touched me. I always found his music mediocre, franklyNumanoid wrote:Except Frank Zappa, was there a more accomplished polymath musician than Prince?fluffy_little_something wrote:Here come the exaggerations and superlatives again that are often thrown around when someone dies

I remember buying his Purple Rain album, and returning it when I found out at home that there was only one good song on it
Anyway, it is always sad when people die decades before they should. Does he have a family?

In case, why didn't the hospital he was in do proper tests last week, instead of calling it a "bad flu" ?spaceman wrote:Sounds like heart attack to me.

Which one did you like ?fluffy_little_something wrote:I remember buying his Purple Rain album, and returning it when I found out at home that there was only one good song on it
Growing up I liked a lot of his stuff during the mid-80's Raspberry Beret, Kiss, and especially Sign 'O' the Times

I don't even remember which one it was that I liked, but I do remember that I was disappointed and the record store took it back and gave me the Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams album instead, which I lovedNumanoid wrote:Which one did you like ?fluffy_little_something wrote:I remember buying his Purple Rain album, and returning it when I found out at home that there was only one good song on it

don't know why people find it hard to believe someone who isn't very old or very young can die of the flu.
tens of thousands die this way every year in the USA alone.

I am not sure, why force a plane to land and go to a hospital due to a bad flu?aMUSEd wrote:Maybe that was his choice?Numanoid wrote:In case, why didn't the hospital he was in do proper tests last week, instead of calling it a "bad flu" ?spaceman wrote:Sounds like heart attack to me.
I mean a flu is not a nice thing, but usually pain killers will help ease the pain over

Why are you assuming that it is in any way linked?Numanoid wrote:In case, why didn't the hospital he was in do proper tests last week, instead of calling it a "bad flu" ?spaceman wrote:Sounds like heart attack to me.

"CDC does not know exactly how many people die from seasonal flu each year"
