http://www.tmz.com/2016/04/21/prince-tr ... dose-dead/

Yeah, its TMZ, but they were one of the first to report his passing so...

Let's at least wait until the toxicology reports come in before we start that.

B4 people start to cast judgement.. he doesn't have to be a druggy. I am stage 4 inoperable , incurable cancer. I have been on morphine sulfate and Oxycontin for some time for cancer pain. The doctors tell me that I'm not an addict because it's for cancer pain, but when my prescription is interrupted for any reason I go into withdrawal. There is nothing recreational about my opiate use and I fear it will kill me B4 the cancer. There are millions like me, Prince had a hip replacement and probably was prescribed pain killers. This is an epidemic across America and claims people daily. Maybe a high profile death like this will draw more attention to this problem.

Sadly, even if true, i dont think it will change much of anything.

Big pharma is the new 'dealer' on the block. Know any family/friends who are doctors or nurses? Ask them about those swanky weekend seminars they throw (flights + rooms paid for). Ask them about the 'advice' they give them, along with bags of goodies to take home, and to the office.

Sadly fitting that he would be in a tribute to Harrison who only made it to 58.

Like a good deal of the popular music of the 1980s, I was never a big fan although I must admit that his occasional channeling of Hendrix was pretty impressive.

RIP

Considering how he was known to be very private, his family(?) may try to sweep his death all under the carpet. Time will tell.

I hope I never have to experience such things Karma. One day, something will happen to me too, beyond my control, and i`ll make a mistake.

EDIT - After reading that TMZ info, i`m convinced it was the result of opiates. Case closed. RIP.

For anybody who missed his 8 minute medley on SNL a couple years ago, deapspin still has it up... http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/watch- ... 1653735759

Might only play in the US, not sure. Could also look it up on nbc.com, but that may be US only as well.

That performance kinda sums up Prince for me.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

I know most of you guys are expert sarcastic assholes but this really is a sad day for music. (sad year really)

In some way shape or form, this man influenced a lot of people's lives for the better through his God given talent of art... similar to David Bowie. Those Simmons drums & OB-X fat synths that you like so much in music are popular so much partly because of him & the people who were with him who contributed.

Source: http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewt ... =1&t=29806

But he didn't stop there, he reinvented himself & sound multiple times.

He changed his name to symbol because he understood his worth. "Hey music industry, f**k you, I am an artist and I am music, I will create whether you want me to or not!" How many of us have the nuts to take 100% control over ALL of our work???

You may not know any songs, but you know the sound AND the mystique. He was able to play any instrument and write for any genre. And yes... Im damn right am a fan of his, always wills be. Please show him respect, as he would definitely show respect for your artforms as well.

It's pretty much true.

It's why I chose not to have children. Life is a death sentence, and as we age, it's miserable for the majority. The final six months or so... I'm told it's total agony, for the most part.

The cool thing about Prince I noticed is that he just did what he wanted. His music is all about it. All over, beautiful, free.

Definitely one of the all time greats, and a real musician's musician, for sure.

It doesn't matter how or why, like this threads predictable little saddo elements.
Let us not allow the small print to stain the memory of a most superior talent.

Will be missed by many, and ultimately, that's all that counts in the end.

Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called life
Electric word life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But im here to tell you
Theres something else
The after world
A world of never ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night

And if the elevator tries to bring you down
Go crazy, punch a higher floor
If you dont like the world youre living in
Take a look around you
At least you got friends

Are we gonna let the elevator bring us down?
Oh no lets go, go crazy

Hard to find youtube stuff which is sad. There is so much jaw-dropping stuff he's done that isn't "mainstream" and even that was heavily censored.
Prince didn't want his stuff on YT. I don't think he was a big fan of the internet or social media. People received cease and desist notices and or his songs and videos were removed by YT (by demand) as I understand it.

I'm sorry this guy departed so young - saw him just a few years back here and he was in fine form even though he thought it necessary to depart the stage for a full half hour during the show. One of a kind.

For shits and giggles, read up on his to-do with Sinead O'Connor over Nothing Compares 2 U. I love that song - both versions - but is seems likely he took no pleasure in her having the temerity to make him $$$$ by covering it so successfully. He tried to lecture her on her swearing and her politics and provoked her to the point where she actually spat on him - attempting to cover Prince in another way perhaps.
