Hard to find youtube stuff which is sad. There is so much jaw-dropping stuff he's done that isn't "mainstream" and even that was heavily censored.
Prince didn't want his stuff on YT. I don't think he was a big fan of the internet or social media. People received cease and desist notices and or his songs and videos were removed by YT (by demand) as I understand it.
But the problem is there is SO MUCH killer shit that nobody has ever heard, or have access to. So much fantastic stuff wasted.

Saw a blues jam with him and a couple of others years ago......brought you to shame it was so good. We should have a way to access that genius.

But you are right. Oh well, sad.

from what I gathered from watching this stuff all day long is he was a great human being besides just being great at music.

I haven't felt this way since Stevie Ray Vaughn was killed. I was saddened by the passing of Bowie and Keith Emerson, but Prince...I can't explain it.

RIP Prince, your legacy lives.
Gaslighting...is a form of mental abuse in which information is twisted or spun, selectively omitted to favor the abuser, or false information is presented with the intent of making victims doubt their own memory, perception, and sanity.

We are all a bunch of sexy MF's 8)

As I posted earlier, except Frank Zappa, I can't think of a more accomplished polymath musician than Prince.

He could play a lot of instruments with the best of 'em, he also wrote and produced for others, and took great care in his own recordings.

Aly James must be sad, judging from his plugins and even more so his demo tracks for them he must be a Prince fan.

Bye Prince, only time I ever danced in the cinema dude.

Prince entered like a flash in my musical journey, for me it was like James Brown but from another planet. He exploded in my funky music pleasure after Purple Rain and on, up to the Black Abum with some genious sparks, loved his beat and his voice mostly, I saw him performing live once, flashing on stage, so little, so powerful.
Then I heard he became Jehovah's Witness, I heard a new album few years ago, I felt sad.
A flash indeed and like a flash he'is gone.

Well sure, that grindy electro funk thing.

A decent article on the "Minneapolis Sound" and Prince's influence in the whole thing...

http://www.popmatters.com/feature/94060 ... lis-sound/

His influence and those of his associates, like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, were a very important part of the evolution of pop music through the 80s and 90s, IMO. It bridged and brought forward old school dirty funk, rock, gospel, pop etc. into the new electro pop world of the early 80s...

Sure he "borrowed from the greats" as was mentioned before, but he also took all that and expanded on it in his own artistic way. If you told me "I have a musical artist that combines the best Sly Stone, George Clinton, Hendrix, Little Richard, James Brown, etc etc in a new modern and unique sound" I say sign me up. You either like that electro-funk and synth-pop sound or you don't... those two things are mainly what you're getting with Prince IMO, and they are generally right up my alley... and they are generally right up my alley in part because of Prince! So a bit circular there.

Some excellent examples of the Prince sound from my collective musical memory...

Pop Life
Alphabet St. (the whole Love Sexy album is still in my top 5!)
Diamonds and Pearls
I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man

and so many others...
You need to limit that rez, bro.
