musicdevelopments wrote:It must be a false positive. Firewall and antivirus are active all the time on the development system, and I refrain from running suspicious applications. I am frightened when such an issue is reported as I have a huge responsibility.
Likewise, I feel the community has a responsibility to assist a conscientious developer when these problems come up.

False positives are common place and the security development teams want to correct these problems when they know about them.

I wonder Attila, if your were to send Avast a note about this what the response would be?

Cheers!

I have to trust certain music files on a regular basis as Norton stops quite a few valid files when it doesn't have enough info about them. I just today had to trust another music program that Norton flagged as Bad. I notified the dev. He can take it from there. I see this type of blocking regularly and routinely need to go into resolved security risks in Norton in order to restore files from quarantine. I basically "know" which files are to be trusted. If you don't have a high confidence level in the files you download, it is best not to do it.

AVAST is becoming a PITA. it thinks everything is a warez.

antivirus companies have found a new source of income by policing pirate software. now that's all well and good but too many times they block legit downloads.

the good news is i just have to remember to disable the antivirus until after download is complete and fully unzipped and copied to a safe location.

Attila,

Not to worry...I have tremendous respect for you and how you release RapidComposer. I know you take every precaution and release clean files!! But I always worry about the internet between you and I (and even my own network!) So, when I get a warning I usually follow its recommendations unless I am 100% positive there is no risk.

FYI, this file, RapidComposer3.0b15-x64.exe, installs without warning. But this one, RapidComposer3.0b16-x64.exe give the following warning and then Avast automatically deletes the file!

For now I'll just wait for the next release to try again. Thanks for all of your hard work and support!

Dear JohnBullFrog,

yes, please follow your intuition, and do not install that file. I'll send you a PM with a download link to the latest installer. I wonder if that will be allowed to install.

Thanks,
Attila

Has any thought been given to writing a proper manual? With so many new and exciting features I wonder how I'll be able to learn it all! :help:

Post

I just finished my first pass of Manual 2.83. While many things have changed with the newest version, it still gave me a solid foundation to understand and use RC.

Chris and Attila did the first manual. Im not sure how much Chris is involved with the product at this point so it maybe a while before a new manual appears. I would hate for Attilla to be distracted from all the innovations and bug fixes he is making to RC ;)

There is also the RC Wiki - http://www.musicdevelopments.com/wiki/doku.php

The "Where do I start?" thread is a good read - viewtopic.php?f=168&t=324234

The 2 videos by Blackwinny will help to understand how to load and use VST's - viewtopic.php?f=168&t=404918

And last, but in NO WAY LEAST, user yellukhan has created many many videos, phrases and other elements he has shared throughout the pages of the forum. He has tons of videos showing how to do what, but you will need to go through the threads to find them - there's just too many to list :tu:

It's probably a good idea if his contributions would be compiled in a thread of their own (hint hint Attila ;) )

But the best way to learn, and the most fun, is to just use RC. Explore everything. Once you get used to knowing where to look for what it all becomes pretty easy. (Hint - Right Click is your best friend).

Cheers!

Hello Attila great, the problem with preview phrase with unmutet tracks is fix. The Problem i have, i try out a phrase modify it and play with unmutet track, but i forget sometimes to press apply to selection and i click on other phrase or same phrase in composition window . and then my new phrase is lost. Is there a way to get the last phrase that was in the phrase page back ?. so can apply them when forget ?. maybe a get last edited phrase button is usefull, this allow also easy copy a phrase to more phrases in a song to modify easy or just copy

Yes, the wiki will be updated immediately after the v3.0 release. It does not contain any screenshots at the moment, because all screenshots have to be re-made.

A compilation of yellukhan's videos can be found under "User Videos":

I'll update the list from time to time.

This is the best advice! :tu:
I am very impressed by the fact that so many people are able to use the new Idea Tool without any written instructions or manuals.
There are still minor bugs found in the Idea Tool, which are being fixed. Next beta is on Sunday.

Thank you!!
Attila

As suggested in the manual I kept trying Shift G to generate with the Idea Tool. Then I checked the keyboard shortcuts list which said use G. I almost gave up when I happened to see the little lightning bolt icon and thought "what the hell I 'll try that.......Bingo"

Hi magicmusic!
Thanks so much for reporting that bug, and sending me a video!

Oops, user error ;)
magicmusic wrote:and i click on other phrase or same phrase in composition window . and then my new phrase is lost.
Currently there is no way to bring it back. I could imagine an alert window which asks you "The edited phrase will be lost. Are you sure?". I added this to the to-do list.

Thanks,
Attila

Hi Attila A alert is good too. maybe there can be also a button that can click to apply the phrase to song in the alert window. so it can not lost and can apply when need. And please add to todo list after 3.0 is release a hotkey for for play with unmutet tracks, as long key is press is played. So can also hear how the phrase sound in a loop. because when create a phrase it is very usefull to hear how it sound in a loop. I like when phrases are repeat 2 times. in many music repeat is done even more than 2
