Hi,

Couple of weeks ago I purchased iRig Keys Mini and got the full version of SampleTank 3 (my first experience with SampleTank). Pretty cool software but I really miss all the mellotron + other vintage tape orchestra sounds and then I found out that there is/was a software called SampleTron by IK Multimedia. So I went to their IKM homepage but it seems that it's not available anymore. :?

I read that you can import its sounds into SampleTank 3, but the problem is: can't purchase those SampleTank or its sound library anymore. :(

So, any news about SampleTron 2016? Is IK Multimedia going to upgrade it to 64-bit?

If I manage to find someone who wants to sell me the SampleTron (32-bit) for cheap I would definitely buy it (if it truly works flawlessy on SampleTank 3).
Optimal number of audio plugins is one more than you currently have.

There are no plans that I know of to release SampleTron 64-bit plug-in. As you have considered, the SampleTron library can be Imported into ST3 (even, now, into ST3 Custom Shop).

As for purchasing SampleTron itself:

Or, IK Multimedia might consider releasing it as an Add-on Library.

FWIW, ST3 full version does import legacy libraries. Presumably the latest version of the free ST3, ST3 SE, will also import the legacy libraries as well.

At the time of ST3 release it was stated there would be no upgrades of the powered by SampleTank libraries and that the only way to be able to use legacy libraries was to buy ST3. Now you get it for free.

The thing is when it comes to IKM, when the revenue stream starts drying up they flip on what they previously said, so don't be surprised if you see a new and improved SampleTron come along in the next six months or so.

Yup, who knows what they'll do when it comes time to create new revenue.

BUT on the flipside... I downloaded the free version of ST3 and imported SampleTron for what is an extremely easy process.

I have M-Tron Pro, but still appreciate these sounds with the simplicity of SampleTank.

I don't think you could go wrong if you can purchase SampleTron for around $30-$40. These are meant to be low quality sounds, so I wouldn't consider much of an improvement with a new release, unless they expand the library.

Sorry to hear that you feel that the information was confusing. We stated there was no free version that imports upon release even months before the release of SampleTank 3 (as well as "at this time", which was correct at the time) and did not state that there never would be such a version. I have also been kind enough to say that people should look at the arc of the previous version, which didn't have a free version that supported the use of the other libraries for around 2 years or perhaps just shy of that. So I'm happy to tell you that this was in no way a flip of what we said, though it seems it was a flip of what people thought we said.

To provide a fresh quote so people do not have to paraphrase later: I know of no plans at this time for an updated version of the current SampleTron library (which, as you likely know, is no longer available for sale from our site). As with any product, there is always the possibility for it to evolve or for new versions to become available down the road.

Mmmm, a fresh quote. Interesting ;)

Hi...

I've been using SampleTron for years as a standalone plug-in VI (i.e., not in SampleTank), and I've just upgraded to a full 64 bit system with OS Sierra, Pro Tools 12.7, and HD Native. I've loaded Sampletron into SampleTank 3 with no problems, BUT I haven't been able to figure out how to install and access/load my old user-made presets, which are all over old and recent projects. Is there a way to do this, given my presets were made using the standalone version?

Thank you!

Any SampleTron 'user presets' that you saved in the Sampletron library should have been Imported along with the SampleTron instruments into ST3 - they will appear there as separate instruments.

Or did you mean SampleTron Combis? You'll need to Import them into the ST3 Multis section, using "Import Combi". Check them out after you have imported them - you may need to adjust some of the settings.

If you click on the "download" in the Sampletron product page, you would see the "download sound" button where you could download some the sounds and import into sampletank 3.
