I also added this info the 2nd post at this thread (after the OP):Oberheim 8000 wrote:This plugins from NI site it need some NI software or hardware, or I can use it as normal plugin?
NKS is not a plugin format but a preset format that offers different benefits when used with the Komplete Kontrol software (or Maschine 2 software) and/or the Komplete Kontrol S or Maschine hardware.
The plugins should be usable without using the NKS format at all.
If you want to use the NKS presets format there are different options:
1.) only software: NI Komplete Kontrol software/plugin (license for Komplete 10 needed, maybe also works with v9)
2.) only software: NI Maschine 2 sofware/plugin (including a license for it)
3.) Komplete Kontrol S keyboards: those will inclu8de a license for the Komplete Kontrol software/plugin
4.) Maschine 2 hardware (different versions) : should include a licensene for the Maschine 2 software/plugin
The Komplete Kontrol and Maschine 2 software should include Standalone and plugin versions (including VST2, VSt3, AAX, AU).
The other plugins (e.g. Waldorf plugins) will then be loaded inside those Komplete Kontrol or Maschine 2 plugins so those more or less habeve like a host for other plugins.
NKS compatible plugins should appear at the left part of the staring page of the Komplete Kontro or Maschine 2 plugins.
You could also load any other plugin (fro ma menu in Komplete Kontrol/Maschine 2 software) but that will not be fully compatible and/or has no proper controller mappings (actually it will then map all available parameters in a more or less random order). Once you saved a NKS file that plugin should also appear at the starting page at the left of the Komplete Kontrol/Maschine 2 plugin but without a proper picture for the synth.
Each NKS file seems to save the patch data, the categories ("NI style" categories to be precise) and teh controller mapping so theortetically you coudl use diferent controller mappings for each NKS preset.
Patch browsing in the synth plugin should still work so if you want to save your own patches you could first load one of the presets to get the proper controller mapping, select the desired patch inside the synth plugin, add the NI categories and save teh NKS file which is then found in the user content. At the upper left of the Komplete Kontrol plugion you got 2 symbols to switch between factory and user content.
For being able to edit really everything (inckluding saving NKS patches to a new bank) you would need a developer version of Maschine 2. With Komplete Kontrol and the standard version of Maschine 2 there seem to be some limitations.

I just phoned with Waldorf and the problem with sending links for the old Waldorf Edition (v1.2.9 instead of the latest v2.2.0) seems to be solved.Ingonator wrote:Just noticed that the links are for the old Waldorf Edition 1 which should no longer be sold and of course the serial for v2 will not work there.Weasel-Boy wrote:No such luck here. As a matter of fact, I did get one more email from Waldorf, (after I sent them an email about the issue) which was the same as one they had sent earlier after clicking the "Redeem Coupon" link. Upon closer inspection, you can clearly see they are directing Mac and PC users to the wrong files. The Mac installer dates to 2010.zhiguli8 wrote:Waldorf got back to me and gave me a new activation code which worked.![]()
That link was even for an older version of v1 as the last one before v2 was v1.7.4.
Really got no clue why they should have sent links for the old v1.
The link at the official Waldorf website seems to be for version 2.2.0 which should be correct:
http://www.waldorf-music.info/en/downloads-we-2
At the official Waldorf website i currently see the new v2.2.0 Installers for both Windows and Mac (also see my quoted post above).
Those who still got this problem could try to download the Installers from the official Waldorf website or contact the official Waldorf Support.

I already replied to the PM i just received but also want to give a comment here:
I just received a PM concerning a problem with the serial for Waldorf Edition 2. While i really like to help sales and serials are not really part of what i do at waldorf. My job is related to doing testing (currently on Windows 10, no OSX here) and also sound design (Waldorf Edition 2 now also include s a 64 patches bank with my own presets).
Due to that i had forwarded the message i received to Waldorf. The best option with such problems really is to contact Waldorf. I know that some people here arte not really patient to wit for reply from official Support but i could really not help much with such sales and/or serial/license related issues except forwarding the message to official Support.
Currently it is also a problem for me to help with Mac related issues as i do not own a Mac myself.
In the past many Mac related issues were not found in the Windows plugins (especially AU/Logic) related ones) so tests i do in Windows do not always help with the Mac plugins.

Yep, bought Largo yesterday and it's a normal plugin. Can use it in all of my DAWs like normal. Largo for $75 is a steal, well any of these are.Ingonator wrote: The plugins should be usable without using the NKS format at all.

Are you using soft eLisencer or the regular eLicenser dongle ?stikygum wrote:Yep, bought Largo yesterday and it's a normal plugin. Can use it in all of my DAWs like normal. Largo for $75 is a steal, well any of these are.
I don't own a eLicenser dongle, so this is what keeps me from the deal, only being able to install it to one machine with soft eLicenser, and not being able to move that license later to another machine if I want to do that without having to buy a dongle:

I'm using it with the soft eLicenser. No need to mess with a dongle. I have software on dongles, but don't use them as much because they are dongles. But that's because I'm on a laptop and don't like the dongle hanging out. If I were on a desktop, I probably wouldn't care as much as I would just always have it plugged in. But with Waldorf plugins all you need is a computer for the soft eLicenser. Sounds like you don't like the soft or the dongle though.Numanoid wrote:Are you using soft eLisencer or the regular eLicenser dongle ?stikygum wrote:Yep, bought Largo yesterday and it's a normal plugin. The main problem I have with the soft eLicenser of Steinberg, is that a license can't be moved to another machine later if a user want to do that.stikygum wrote:Sounds like you don't like the soft or the dongle though.

With the dongle that's of course possible.
Must say I've never had issues with either eLicenser or iLok... Used them for better part of the past 2 years now.

But not the soft eLicenser, so now you know thatEvilDragon wrote:With the dongle that's of course possible.
If NI or Steinberg threw a free eLicenser dongle into this deal, that would of course be great
