Make sure narrow view isn't on. Cmd-shift-n on mac, or in the mixer drop down menu as 'Use Narrow View'.

You can also set the columns in the channel strip window by using that window's menu.

Thanks, I lowered the resolution of my monitor to make everything bigger. Really super impressed with this DAW. Like a nice dream..still a bit confused but learning as I write.

Yeah, the small sizes of stuff (particlarly fonts/controller handles in the editor) are a bit on the small side for some. I love the single-window interface...it's one of the best going, imo.
DP's a great DAW. The more you get into it, the better it gets!
Also, in case you have trouble seeing the carat-style controller handles in the editor, there's an easy mod you can use to replace them with a dot. it makes them a little easier to grab, at least for me.

^ Thanks, I'll check that out. I honestly haven't found the controller handles in the editor(midi? maybe) because I've just been learning to straight record, bounce, and mix..and do bus/aux tracks so far. But I'll definitely get around to that sometime soon. I have to save for a new motherboard that can give me 16 GB of ram. I'm on an older ASUS right now that limits me to 8 GB, and I love UVI so that's a no go. I've been creating audio tracks and sending signal through from my instrument(and midi) tracks(one at a time) and recording to it. Sort of an improvised bounce because I can't get the bounce feature to work right.

hmmm. what steps are you taking to bounce?
A couple of quick notes on bounce:
1) you have to select the range you wish to bounce (so even just on one track, you have to select the length of the track).
2) if memory serves, a good rule of thumb is that if it's not visible in the arrange, you can't select it. for instance, ctrl+a won't select tracks hidden via the selector pane, or tracks in a closed folder.

not sure either is your specific problem, but they're good things to know

^I'm having trouble selecting the range to bounce. I'm used to Nuendo and Cubase where you just drag from the left of the top of the track(arrange/wave display) to set a range. It's the same there as doing a loop, just with the loop button off. Previous to that I was using Logic(long ago) but I'll check into it. I'm kindof liking my improvised bounce a little to though

hehe, yeah, i use that trick to mono-ize stereo instruments.

Hey, I've come across a new issue. I'm getting an unstable midi velocity. I've figured out that I'm only using midi thru on tracks, because my midi input isn't selectable on the track itself. I'm searching the preferences and setup pages to find where I can assign midi inputs manually. I'm still looking. Any help is appreciated

i only have one midi i/o, so the lack of it showing up has never really been an issue, apart from the occasional instrument like bdf3 that will send midi out, and said midi seemed to become present on other midi record-enabled tracks.
since i didn't need the midi out of bdf3, i just disabled that...but i'm pretty sure there is a way to have midi ins show in DP anyway.

what os are you on? (i'm win10)...

I switched back to win 7 64-bit. I found a tab one time in the menu that let me select, so for one song I'm doing I have it right. A new song I'm attempting to start is a little messed. I could just open my old song for now and delete the files, and see if it retains everything. Thanks for all your help on me with figuring things out

You're welcome!
It definitely sounds like multi-record is what you're after. I'm guessing it's enabled in the old song, but not the new one. It should be an option in the studio menu. If enabled, the input interface/channel should start showing up as available for selection on tracks.
