agreed in principle, though in that context, labeling a dial in milliseconds to two decimal places and then transitioning over to microseconds seems completely meaningless.
why label it at all?
why label it at all?

The decay time -> the time it takes to reach 67% of the full scale, that's what I remember Olivier explained about the slope/rates in that envelope, if you search this thread in the upper right of the screen, you'll find it somewhere.the3ug3reeder wrote:in the Analog ADSR, i think the time values displayed under Attack Decay and Release are very wrong.
1. set attack to 100 micro seconds, decay to 350 milliseconds, sustain to 0%
2. hit a key and simultaneously start your stopwatch.
3. wait 'till the sound gets so quiet that you can't hear it, and hit stop on your stopwatch.
my stopwatch says 6.8 seconds.

I found this (posted by Olivier) and will search some more:Sampleconstruct wrote:The decay time -> the time it takes to reach 67% of the full scale, that's what I remember Olivier explained about the slope/rates in that envelope, if you search this thread in the upper right of the screen, you'll find it somewhere.the3ug3reeder wrote:in the Analog ADSR, i think the time values displayed under Attack Decay and Release are very wrong.

- Analog ADSR: an ADSR based on classic RC decay characteristic with EE decay time constant definition T=RC. should feel much closer to vintage synth feel than the precise digital ADSR.

ahhh ok!
that makes perfect sense then.
thanks Simon!
i hope juicy tidbits like this make it into the manual at some point.

Here it is:
Regarding Analog ADSR time, this is time for the emulated RC to reach 66% of its target

And if you want absolutely linear time scaling, the old DAHDSR envelope or the multi envelope is your friend, you can set the slope shape for each stage, the only thing missing is that one can not modulate velocity sensitivity like in the analog ADSR, so that value is fixed. But I guess, you knew that already.

yes. DAHDSR and multi envelope are close friends of mine:)

Alright, I picked it up today... and I'm absolutely thrilled. It's the exact plugin instrument that I've wanted for years. I haven't had this much fun getting started with a plugin, ever.
It's a bit too early to say "I'm going to sell my other plugins" (and maybe hardware!) but I'm definitely feeling it that much. And I don't see myself using any other plugins for quite a while.
Anyway, I just wanted to chime in that I think Falcon is AMAZING. So excited

It is kind of like a modular dream machine. I can't think of much, if anything, that it can't do, though I haven't tried audio rate modulation yet. Not sure it's capable. Maybe somebody can pop in and verify either way.padillac wrote:Alright, I picked it up today... and I'm absolutely thrilled. It's the exact plugin instrument that I've wanted for years. I did this video on audio rate modulation in Falcon some months ago:

There is also some info in the FAQ thread.

Funny how audio rate modulation is the new black,
I think Reaktor started the current trend with Blocks, obviously inspired by the modular trend.

Is there a way to tell my host (Renoise) what the host automation names are? I set a host automation mod in Falcon, and it shows up as "Detune" in Falcon, but "Host Automation 1" in Renoise's instrument automation device. I would LOVE for the name to show up as "Detune" in Renoise... it would make things really clear.

From the manual:padillac wrote:Is there a way to tell my host (Renoise) what the host automation names are? So maybe I need to ask Renoise devs if they can support automation name changes. If your host application supports it, the name of the assigned parameter may be displayed in the host application. Otherwise, the numbered parameter name (such as “Host Automation 1”) will be displayed.
