Thinking about Reason 8, and Ableton live

Hi,

I've been looking for another sequencer for sketching and looping to use along with my main DAW Digital Performer. Ideally I'd like to find something like Numerology, but alas I'm on Windows. I'm kinda lukewarm on ableton, but I'll give it more time, I'd actually like to hear what people use Reason for. I do like its rather quick start up, and its really stable. I know it can't take VSTs. While factory library is not a big deal, I have to say Reason's Kong is pretty solid, and Dr.OctoRex is fantasic.

I like most DAWS for different features, but Reason to me is king as far as writing songs, sketching ideas, and simply getting inspired goes. Its just so much fun to use when writing and that Rack of virtual hardware isn't too hard on the eyes either if your one who gets inspired visually. It's most important quality though, is the fact that its just that its so damn rock solid and stable. When my friends complain about losing projects or getting frustrated with plugin problems, It feels nice knowing that's not a concern I have to worry about when working in Reason. That's not to take anything away from Ableton though, which is also a fantastic program in its own right. Both are great and have "light" versions you can use to see which one fits your workflow better anyhow. Good luck man

u can connect them together, and can automate all the stock devices from AL(and Max)



in this case Reason5 will be enough, u will able to to use VSTs instead of the different Reason rack devices (if u not need a specific one)
