Do Steinberg do mid-year/summer sales?

I need to upgrade and am not sure if I should hold off for a bit.

Same here, on 7.5 but not really feeling the need to upgrade. But want to keep updated as cheaply as possible.

I purchased the 7.5 upgrade on sale. Pretty much though, I just don't use cubase so I haven't really been following. I skipped 8.0 and 8.5, I might just sell cubase TBH.

Yeah, they do sales sometimes. Pretty sure they also do summer sales too usually.

The question then is when does summer start in the eyes of ze Germans?

I'm ready to pull the trigger this week and don't know if I should hang out for another month

Sales would be a bit pointless if everyone knew when they will be. :P

True. Germans do like routine though.

Lol. I don't think most of the stereotypes about germans really apply anymore. It all goes down the swanny in a wealthy society. :P

There may be an indication here though, as it also shows the deals it seems: http://www.kvraudio.com/product/cubase- ... nberg/news Not sure if all were covered though, they surely had a deal in the last 2 years at some point. But maybe you're lucky, and they're really up to something in/near the summer.

Very true, I deal with a few at work and perfection isn't even close to being in their vocabulary. Some though are superb.
So yes it's just a stereotype.

I might just go for it. I'm not sure a month without studio time is worth ~£100.

NI, makes the same sales every year: spring 50% off komplete or maschine, summer: 50% off komplete and traktor controllers, Black friday: 50% off individual instruments, Xmas: some sale on traktor sutff.

They have been doing that like for the last 5 years.

Ableton also has xmas and summer sales (33%) off software every year.

And the list could go on.

Both German examples.

I rest my case :hihi:

True, but most companies don't seem to have a repeating pattern. Synapse Audio has very irregular sales, same with Reveal-Sound, Steinberg don't have regular sales, Presonus don't. "The list could go on." :P In general, i'd say it's pretty pointless to let people know when you do a sale, because the whole point of a sale is to produce motivation to buy. This motivation also could come with new products, and you won't have a sale right on the release, unless you do an introductory price, which is a additional motivation to buy then. If you have 5 regular sales in a year, noone would buy in non-sale periods, unless you release new stuff, or something else out of the order happens.

im actually upset i recall there was a cubase sale in the store for halion and stuff and i checked and it was gone... i really wish these sales went on a bit longer so we could get our financials in order to purchase something extra!!!

Exactly - not to mention all Black Fridays, Cyber Mondays etc. which are mostly the USA contributions to the world. Then we have summer offers, spring sales, autumn madness, ...

I think 98 % of all sales (in volume) are predictable/routine, i.e. according to the above logic "pointless". I rest your case.

Post

Well, i disagree. Fair enough. Of course the "i want it today, not in half a year" factor is not to neglect too. Still, it would be pretty pointless to have 5 sales a year at exactly the same time every year. On Black Friday, you never know who will offer, and who will not e.g.
