hi fellow kvrists..... i ran memtest86 for over 5 hours and got a total of 62 errors(tests 5 and 6). are these errors legitimate? Should i replace ram?(Corsair xms pc3200 512Mb ddr400).
Ever since i built this DAW(2 months ago) , i've been getting constant BSOD's at anytime of day, when working in FLstudio,Live4,web-browsing,even when i was reintalling xp. Ive actually reformated HD and reinstalled xp 3 or 4 times and still get blue screen. Ive swapped video cards,tried all asio drivers for my delta 1010 and blue screens keep popping up. Could it be the MOBO? or RAM?

I have an asus board and it is rock solid. In fact I tracked an album and had full confidence with it and I didn't ever think I would get Mac like reliability out of a pc. I was wrong. I also came from Mac (still have 1 in the studio for pluggo) . I ran memtest86 several months ago and it reported failed memory tests 5 and 6 and it was accurate. I was running apacer memory not the good stuff. I swapped in new ddr and all was well. Your memory should be replaceable under warranty. I'd make sure the technicians have a report of the error logs and I'd run it overnight to get a full picture. Intermittent problems can be denied or not picked up by technicians so be sure you have your error log and note the failed tests and bsod. Good luck with it, you should have a great set-up there. I forgot to ask if you are overclocking your memory or cpu. Bring everything to stock settings before running memtest. Some memory just can't handle the extra push. POst your BIOS settings if you get a chance. If you overclocked your memory or board be sure not to mention it to the techs, they will most likely not replace the memory under warranty in that instance - Scott

The 2 things that you most likely want to check in your BIOS are your Ram timeings and the voltage setting for your RAM.
I had BSOD's when I built my last DAW and was failing memtest just like you. My memory was rated to be able to run 2-2-2-5, and that's how I had it set in the BIOS. After a week of aggravation, I tried increasing the default voltage a smidgeon but still a bit under what my RAM maker, Mushkin, said was the max it could take. Zero errors in memtest after a 15 hours of testing.
Often times you have to find the right balance between how fast you want your memory running, and how much voltage you're willing to send it. Higher than default voltage increases your chances of shortening the lifespan of your memory.

What is the exact error in the Bsod? That will determine what kind of error it is...
