before getting into the question i have, here's my specs

p4 2.4hgz with 512mb of ddr pc3200 ram
wami24 rack soundcard

I am building an electronic drumkit with mesh heads. Instead of using a conventional drum brain for sounds, I bought a roland tmc-6 trigger/midi converter so I can trigger sounds in kontakt on my pc.

The main reason for this is because regardless of what i'm triggering, it's much easier (being a drummer) to do it this way, than by using a midi controller.

My soundcard has adjustable latency (down to 64 samples also has 128, 512 etc)

my question is, with my system specs, is it possible to have a good balance between latency and sound quality?

in other words, no clicks and pops but not compromising my ability to play to a metronome.

I suppose this would be easy to fix by just limiting kontakt to 8 voices or whatever, but I was hoping there would be a better way. thx
