Well, I haven't gotten live 4 yet. I would love to have it but I can't buy it because I spent too much this year already :( ARGGRRR It's so frustrating..

But I did notice that you can get Live 4 for $300 instead of $400 by buying Live 3 and upgrading to Live 4, so I thought I would share this with you guys.

For example, audiomidi.com has live 3 for $250.00: http://www.audiomidi.com/common/cfm/pro ... m?pid=5308

Then, you can upgrade to live 4:

"Special offer for recent purchasers: Customers who purchased Live 3 or an upgrade to Live 3 after May 15th, 2004 are eligible for a discounted upgrade to Live 4 for only EUR/USD 49 (download version) or EUR/USD 79 (boxed version)." from this web page: http://www.ableton.com/pages/products/u ... pgrade.php

Man do I wish I could afford Live 4.. even $300 is too much for me right now..

I managed to get it for $250. I spotted version 1.5 on a store shelf for $99 as a closeout a couple of days before 4 was released. I went back to my office and checked to make sure that 1.5 was upgradable. Once I found out that I could get the upgrade for 149 I ran back to the store to grab it because it was the last copy. So there is always a chance that someone has a version older than 3 on a shelf somewhere going cheap.

I was set against trying Live. Live Delta 2 came with my sound card. I let it sit there. Then a while longer. Finally I tried it. Hm, fun, but without MIDI and VST it wasn't what I was looking for. Then the news came over about Live 4, and the upgrade deals fit together very neatly. *bingbingbing!* Sold.

Live encourages different ways of playing with sound than my main host, Sonar, does. Both are enjoyable, and each leads me to make different kinds of... well, of unlistenable dreck. But they're both fun. =^_^=
