Didn't run into this issue yet. I used to love stuff like 2 Unlimited, DJ Bobo, Masterboy and East 17. 25 years later and I still do.

Dunno. ABBA wasn't that bad.
In comparison: the Angelic Upstarts (wots in a name?) with 'Taking Guns To Afghanistan'.
But hey.. this was in the days where punk got commercial lol

Me at 15 / 1970 w/Rod Stewart/Humble Pie, English 'shag' haircut.

I don`t regret the haircut or trending with the English rockers at that time. I also listened to Grand Funk Railroad heavily.
I have to admit that GFR was a perfect band to copy for practice if just learning drums or bass guitar as my drummer friend and I did.
A few years later, no longer GFR listeners, my friend and I decided to finally just go see them since we both spent so much time rehearsing their songs as practice.
Well, not more then 3 songs into the concert we grimaced at one another and walked out.
I still think the 1st two albums are raw and noteworthy rock records.
There was a very short period in `73 when I really liked this Sergio Mendes record "Love Music". It was Brazilian jazz of sorts...I listened to a lot of jazz then, but this sound was way too mainstream compared to everything else I liked. I think I just wanted to phuck those two singer chicks.
That`s about it. There aren't any other bands I like[d] which make me scratch my head ...'cause I have such impeccable taste you see!

D n' B is a hollow, dead shell of a genre now. It's almost become a parody of itself now really.Numanoid wrote:I spent too much money on Drum'n'Bass platters at the end of the 90's, which I regret now

By that time the genre had become stale and rather shite

Personally, I don't regret my experience with Dark D&B, I still love those 90's tunes. However, what was belched out beyond that was a pale shadow of a terrible commercial nonsense (IMO).
Now the music lacks any musicality and it sounds very similer. Once music get to the masses it dies.

I could write about metal, death and prog metal...but it's a cliche of adolescence.
Instead, few years before I spent alotta money to see U2 live, Poorope tour. You know, "numb" and all that stuff. Damn.
The only actually good things were Pearl Jam supporting and a chick from Brasil dancing all the time in the front row.

I almost bought the first Scooter release, just goes to show how starved I was for sounds and how difficult it was to get hold of electronic music releases where I lived at that time
Had I found them second hand now though, I think I would buy Hyper Hyper for a trip down memory lane

There were only a few of us English(style)rockers at my American high school in 1970.We all had our hair cut by a fellow rocker's hairstylist Father who somehow learned the shag cut. I guess he learned it from looking at pictures of Rod Stewart with the 'Faces'

I can't think of anything I liked in the past but can't stand to hear now. For me, it's somewhat the opposite; I've grown to like some things I hated then. Two examples were Elton John and Simon & Garfunkel. I think the problem was having a friend who played those two artists' albums constantly; I got very sick of them. Now I can sit back and enjoy the songs.
There are some things from my youth that I still can't say that I like, but there is a sense of nostalgia about them that is rather appealing. I think I associate them with some pleasant memories (which I guess is a little weird, since I don't care much for the songs themselves). Most of these songs are Country. My father listened to a lot of that kind of stuff, so even though the songs aren't my cup of tea, I do associate them with good times spent with him.

I wish I could have looked more like that. My hair (when I had it) was a mess. Being born two people meant having one side of my hair laying flat and the other with cowlicks galore. Hairspray? Never did a thing. Good riddance!Numanoid wrote:..and why should you, you looked greatannode wrote:I don`t regret the haircut or trending with the English rockers at that time.
