Just wondering how i can identify the cause as i'm at a loss. The noise just blasts from nowhere that would damage my hearing if i was listening through cans and a random channel and master redline.

I've tried 3 different versions of Live, two different interfaces, removing plugins and trashing prefs. I know there are various apps that can tell you what's going on when a crash occurs but what would work for something like this?

Never had it before, can't think where to investigate as i do all the obvious stuff like keep drivers up to date.

Haven't checked for Win 10 updates for a while, i know they can introduce issues so have left it but i'm fairly stumped. :?

Cheers!

I wish I could help, but I've not experienced this before.

I've a question and a suggestion:

Do you get the bursts even if you've opened a brand new, clean file? If so, definitely call Ableton and open a case.

No matter what, I have Cerberus ice9 as the last plug on the master channel on any project in and DAW:

It's saved me many, many times, and it's free. It mutes the master channel if it gets within 0.2 dB of zero.

I hope you get it sorted.

Thanks wesley, if you mean empty project no but i'm trying adding tracks systematically to see if anything triggers it.

Now i think about it i recently started using RC48/24, they're the only new plugins i've added. I've got a feeling it's an effect on a return or something being used in different tracks but it looks like it's not a Live issue so far which is a good sign.

Yes, I meant project. Good to hear! I figure it might be a plugin that's in demo mode for some reason.

Is your computer connected to the internet.....sounds like a Trump robo-call....

Haha, not sure what that is but i suddenly feel like building a wall. :hihi:

Anyway seems like it was my kick rack, deleted it and replaced it with another and it's been playing fine for about 15 minutes, been testing for over an hour slowly adding tracks and deleting any once i encounter an issue. May be a bug with Simpler or something but looks like it's sorted.

Nah there was something deeper going on, i'm having to do a repair install of Windows 10; i couldn't install any windows updates and the fix for that after trying several other fixes is to do a repair install. I couldn't change the default audio device either which lead to checking for updates.

Gonna have to look into a mac or hackintosh build for audio, i seem to run into weird glitches every so often with Windows installs, different OSes etc...

Still occurring, really fricken weird, never known anything like it! :o

Hopefully Ableton can identify what's going on but Ice9 did the job, cheers wesleyt!

I had a similar instance of random white noise last summer. I finally found that with some Able update, one of my plugs had "un-authorized" itself and this noise was it's test-period spoiler.

best of luck

If only! Was it nearly blowing your ears out? This is nasty, i have to be really careful with levels but Ice9 is a lifesaver. Live usually crashes as well.

Does it happen if you open a new project?

Post

Curious. An earlier beta of Stix would send an infinitely loud (like 99999 dB) output and it would occasionally crash Logic.

I think it was Eventide Blackhole; I removed each plugin i'd recently begun using and last night when it occured Blackholes' meter was spiking.

Anyway since removing it it hasn't happened once although i'm also using the latest beta, 9.6.1 seemed prone to crashing but again could be due to Blackhole.

I know feel safe again and can continue my travels amongst cosmos. :hihi:
