You know, I love project Gutenberg, but it is like Librivox: Lots of crap and a small number of pleasant surprises. So many entries are really badly put together, but just when you give up hope, a real gem comes along.
That's why I always try to use direct facsimile scans of published books, because at least I know that the text will be true to the original.
In any case, that list is a good starting point for researching future entries.
