If you look at the pg-8x product page here on KVR, you can find a couple of banks, or google for JX-8P Sysex banks.Gucky wrote:Congratulations to the new version!
It is a fantastic synth.
I have two questions:
- The new version is without any soundbanks. Where can I get good soundbanks for the synth?
Click on the programme number. That opens a menu which allows you to browse through the bank.- At the moment I can change a program by clicking on the program arrows. So I had to make many clicks to go to
program 64 for example. Would it be possible in a next version to have a preset browser that shows all programs
in one window?

Martin

@martin_l:
Can you flush buffers on stop and after rendering? Currently you can hear tails/release sound on stop and on rendering once the render process is finished (REAPER 5.18 x64).
Also what about a OSC retrigger mode (not free running)?

I am not sure what you mean. All plugins I tried continue to play the release phase, after a STOP of the DAW. You would not want that the sound suddenly cuts out. Please, excuse when I misunderstood you.Dandruff wrote:@martin_l:

This plugin is supposed to be quite close to the hardware, which has free running oscillators. Also what about a OSC retrigger mode (not free running)?
Maybe, in a future extended version I could make it a parameter.

Hence the big red DRAFT. Haha.Yeager wrote:Hi Martin,
I was reading the manual.pdf and was reading the SETTINGS section, the thing I wanted to know about was the OCTAVE STRETCH.
The manual started very strong:
OCTAVE STRETCH: the
..... but I have the feeling you left me hanging there
Note to self: need to finish the manual...
Octave stretch simply means that the frequency ration between a note and a note one octave higher is not just 2, but 2 plus "octave stretch". The result is that two notes, one octave apart, do not remain phase locked but can slightly shift against each other, giving a fuller sound.

Congrats on v2.0.1, Martin!
I've re-posted your Facebook post onto my page, with a little note about the synth and a suggestion people donate. I've recommended it to other musos I know, and I really appreciate the work you've done on this.
Thanks again!
Steve

Hey Martin, I just want to say a very big thank you for this synth. I used to own an MKS-70 back in the day - sold it in 1999 - and this VST is really bringing back some sweet memories.

I think you've done an incredible job on this synth and I will definitely donate when I get back to paid employment.
Thanks again

I see no parameter value if moving a handle, in the new version. Also, I don't know, but I totally prefer the sound of the old version (may 2015)... Can there be a switch to have back exact that kind of sound ?
what exactly do you mean that you do not see the value when moving a handle? Does it not display the value in the main readout? Which host are you using?
As for the sound, could you please be more specific? I did not change anything dramatic at the sound engine, mainly slight adjustments to the parameters, i.e. by adjusting the sliders you should be able to get the same sound as before.
Cheers,
Martin
ok regarding the displaying, steps to reproduce, it affects both versions:
1. open pg8x 2 in Renoise 3.1 64bit OSX 10.9.5 VST version.
2. Open the bank JX8PBNK2.SYX.
3. If you move the resonance slider up and down, the is no display of the value. Also no value on mouse over.
4. Now slowly switch the presets and move mouse over some sliders. Still no value display.
5. Now quickly double/multiple-click while switching the presets. Move mouse over a slider. Display works now.
6. The display wont work again after reloading the bank.
Regarding the sound:
1. Open V2 and may-2015 version side-by-side.
2. Load JX8PBNK2.SYX, step back to preset "tekno strng"
3. Put resonance to 80 on both.
4. Put both synths to same volume by putting new version in +6db mode and lowering the old version by -1.8dB.
5. Move the cutoff and compare at a quite loud volume
In my opinion, the old filter (or whatever component) has quite a lot more brilliance / shininess, kind of little exciter effect? It is not so audible, if you put old version to -6db and new to 0db mode (and increasing volume). Or do I hear the grass growing? Also the chorus seems to sound different?

Preferences/Audio/Playback:
Run FX when stopped = enabled
Flush FX on stop = enabled
PG-8X not flushed on stop. Other VSTi (Vember Audio, U-he ...) do it properly.

Ok, but it doesn't seem to work properly here.martin_l wrote:They ARE implemented. This is actually default when using WDL-OL.

REAPER 5.18 x64
Example:
"LFO Delay time" -> show as track envelope
Tooltip range = 0 to 99 (should be 0 to 10 as in GUI)
Rightclick envelope point -> "Set point value" gives a range of 0 to 1 (should be 0 to 10 as well)
Also as soon as you have active parameter envelopes in REPAER, the parameter readout in the GUI doesn't work properly anymore (tweaking fader with mouse doesn't show the parameter value readout properly).
