Where does this sound come from?? (Clicky)
Can you help? It's a well used sound, and has been on a ton of records in the early ninties. FSOL used it alot on their old radio shows too. My guess is it's from the S1000 factory library as it's so widely used but I don't realy know.
Also, anyone know where I can get the sound?
Cheers!

The one in the background? Sounds like the boy choir from the yamaha SY series. Could be an old fairlight sound too I guess. But its not really a very special sound is it?

Ooh, close but not quite!
If I can dig out my old FSOL essential mixes I'll post another example (they tended to gate it rhythmically). I'm after it coz it has bite and it has a sentimental element to me (which probably sounds a touch odd...). It also sounds like one of those 'buy me now' type big presets which used to be on the big synths/workstations of the late 80s/early 90s (M1, K4, D70, SY85 - you know the type).

Hmm, I had an SY35 which didn't have anything on it similar or are you referring to the 77/85/99?Pukeweed wrote:The one in the background? Sounds like the boy choir from the yamaha SY series. Could be an old fairlight sound too I guess. But its not really a very special sound is it?

In case you're wondering, that was from Ultra Focus.

I'd vote for a Korg M1. There's this shimmering tone which sounds suspiciously like the infamous "lore" sample from the M1.

Doesn't sound odd at all. I find many sounds have a sentimental value to me.gunark wrote:it has a sentimental element to me (which probably sounds a touch odd...)

Seems I can scratch M1 and XD5R as I downloaded the sample sets from Hollow Sun and it's not themBig Tick wrote:I'd vote for a Korg M1. There's this shimmering tone which sounds suspiciously like the infamous "lore" sample from the M1.

Really? Sounds nice - dunno if I can justify the outlay but it looks a nice piece of kit, very expansive. Xmas maybe...DevonB wrote:In case you're wondering, that was from Ultra Focus.

It´s the famous M1 "Universe" Preset, slightly modified with pitch up. I´ve published on Korg Universe Sample Volume 2 CD-ROM authorized by Korg. You can order just this single multisample.
