The Journey

Post

this is a pretty driving tune. Not really my thing. I like a lot of the sounds in there but not all of them. Actually my main problem with them is that they are always at the same volume. I think that your song would possibly benefit from a few volume changes. Now it is sort of static & repetitive which makes it numbing. I guess that or there should be more variation in the composition for main part of the song. Though I think the volumes / velocities would do wonders too. It will make the journey more interesting. I guess it will give it some depth. On a whole I think the sound of your song is too up front, too in-your-face. But definitely not a bad song per se.

I liked the detuned / bending sound which you used to open the song with, nice. It’s giving it a low-fi feel dressed in a hi-fi coat. Which is a cool effect. :)

I’m unfamiliar with the earlier version of this song so I can’t really comment on the changes you’ve made. Hence I will leave it at this.

thanks for sharing.

ps. sorry if I seem negative but someone stole my fan and it's real fuckin' hot!

Hi there fella. No harm in some constructive criticism, thats how we learn and get better. :)

I think that you may be right about a bit more movement in the mix, it does sound a bit static at the minute. I might bring in the beats and percussion quicker at the start, then leave room in the middle for a bit of a breakdown thing.

Just thinking out loud anyway :D

Keep those comments coming

For some reason right now it feels as if the percussion/drums feel a bit too airy (reverb?) and could use a bit of tightening. I have to agree with austere on the velocity of the separate parts though, I think I addressed that in the version before this one.

The bass seems a bit too present and I feel should be pushed back and integrated a bit more with the rest of the tune.

I put up the version before this one again and the drums are tighter there. The melody now seems more moving somehow, but for some reason I prefered them the way they were in the version before. I think if you could get the movement you have on the melody placed on the pads you'll be on a better direction.

If this all makes sense though.

I am liking what I am hearing :D
