I was up to 2.9 and really didn't do a lot with it, but I decided to bear down with 3 tonight. I had the Grandeur piano going in Kontakt but when I added a Scarbee bass Kontakt crashed. So I decided to not use VSTs tonight because there was something I really wanted to accomplish in a song. I played a piano MIDI part into RC and for the life of me there was no way to get it to follow a generated chord track. I think maybe self played phrases cannot be edited to use in a generated chord track? That took most of the night and I couldn't get it. But I did manage to accomplish what I wanted in the chord track, just can't get my own MIDI phrase track to follow it. If I'm missing something I'd appreciate hearing how to do it because I couldn't find anything in the latest PDF manual, which is fairly comprehensive. So I may have missed something about that for sure. thanks in advance

Hi,
you need to convert that piano to the Relative Form, to follow master track progression.
if i understand correctly,
you already prepared master track progression according to piano that you recorded
and now you want to change some part of the progression and want piano to follow that changes?
if so you can right click to piano phrase open the inspector click to wheel icon and see there "Convert To Relative Form"

Hi Ilkka,

as yellukhan suggested, the recorded notes are 'absolute' notes (just like in a DAW) which you need to convert to the scale or chord-relative form. The conversion always uses the master track chords. After recording your notes probably do not match the master track chords. So you will have to check the 'Replace Master Track Chords' check-box. Which detects chords from your phrase, set up the master track, and then convert the recorded note to scale or chord relative form.

Thanks,
Attila

Thanks to both of you, very helpful. Will try later. I knew there was something I missed.

Attila, I think you understood backwards what I was trying to get, I don't want the chord progression to follow what I played, but I want what I played (my own MIDI) to follow the new chord progression. And I tried what yellukhan suggested but my played phrase still won't follow the new chord progression, it still plays exactly what I played note for note. If I can get this to work this would be great because I play very rhythmically (drummer) on the piano, so if I can get the rhythms to match the chord progressions this would be fantastic. I think you can do something like this in the Cubase Chord track functions somewhere but an all in one composing template like this would be the way to go.

OK, MY mistake, I was doing it backwards. Sorry. I was inserting the Chords in the Master Chord Track and then converting what I played to Relative, in that order. I just tried converting what I played to Relative, THEN changed the chords in the chord track. Perfect, this changes the notes, and thanks very much.
