I like largo GUI but some text could be bigger, obviously a resizable GUI would be great.

In Waldorf Edition 2 there seems to be a second GUI that is automatically used at high resolution displays like 4K or Retina. It should automatically switch by detecting the displays resolution.

During the Beta terting i had a file/tool that allowed manually switching those but the big one was much too big for my Full HD display.

I managed to pick up Largo last week thanks to this thread for drawing my attention to it!

In Logic I keep getting a ctd with it. Does anyone know how stable it is? I find the gui quite slow at times. Great great sound though!

As i remember time ago when i used Largo his UI was enormously slow (though features\sound really good), well i thought it was fixed already, because it was fresh released yet, bad if no.

It takes about a second to load the GUI here, but apart from that, it's pretty responsive. I remember it used to be a little sluggish though, that's true. But all in all, it's pretty quick now, and they also improved the general ressource consumption. Something i cannot say about certain other plugins *cough cough*.

Thanks for the info guys. Well I've contacted Waldorf and they asked me to delete everything and reinstall. It's early days but it has crashed again so I'm not sure.

On another point, I've noticed Largo sounds better at higher sample rate. I usually run at 44.1 and with extreme pitch and filter modulation there's sometimes audible "fold back" at high frequencies. With 48k and 96k it's cleaner and almost a Blofeld in sound quality.

I'm currently running Largo with the soft eLicenser from my desktop. If I buy a dongle can I transfer the soft eLicenser to my laptop then use my laptop dongle free and use Largo on my desktop with the dongle plugged in?

Or does the dongle have to be in the computer you want to use Largo on.

I really hope the former! Thanks.

You could tranfer teh soft eLicenser to the dongle but the license will be removed from your HD then and could be only used with the dongle. Taht means you could only use the license at the computer where the dongle is plugged in.

Not "outdated" really but that's how eLicneser works. I am using this for ages (at least 10 years with different developers) and it's usually working nicely. Actually i did not have serious problems with this so far, also when re-installing the computer.

Not sure if this was covered before but has anyone run Nave 1.13 in Cubase 8.5 with any success? The plugin keeps crashing Cubase (running under Windows 10). Not sure what to make of this. Largo, PPG Wave 3, and Edition 2 all work fine.

Not "outdated" really but that's how eLicneser works. I am using this for ages (at least 10 years with different developers) and it's usually working nicely. Actually i did not have serious problems with this so far, also when re-installing the computer.

The whole eLicenser thing is a horrible user experience. I could go into it but I am sure you can find enough people complaining about if you search the web. Dongles were more common for music software back in time. These days there is significantly more software that doesn't require a dongle. So in that sense the eLicenser is outdated.

Even iLok now supports transportable licenses via the cloud. Of the many many companies who's products I have, those that require eLicenser are the only one that requires you to have a USB dongle to transport and update your licenses - another approach that is outdated.

Keep in mind when you buy a product that requires an eLicenser license, you won't be able to do anything with the license unless it's on an eLicenser USB (you can't transport it, back it up, etc. if you leave it on your computer and it become inaccessible - too bad. you can sometimes get a replacement at a cost but you have to provide proof of purchase, for Waldorf). Therefore, you have to account for the cost of the dongle in your software costs. That model is also outdated.

So yes, the eLicenser is outdated when compared to the way other companies handle licenses.

I thought I could "live" without the USB dongle after purchasing Largo and Nave. But I decided to get a better computer for music and now I had to get a dongle to transfer the license. that is ridiculous. so that $75US sale was very nice but the effective cost of each synth becomes $100US with the dongle. if I wanted to sell my Waldorf products I need a USB dongle for each package to transfer the license to the new users. that makes the software cost $125US at the sale price or $200US not on sale.

Finally, if you lose or don't have proof of purchase AND a signed invoiced from the seller explaining the sale and including your name, Waldorf won't replace your license if you lose it. You will not be able to use the software and there is no recourse.

All in all, a very poor user experience and a very outdated and ridiculous approach to music software licensing. Keep all this in mind.

Waldorf Largo, PPG Wave 3.V and Waldorf Edition 2 are "NKS ready" now
