Can anyone tell me why I should spend $99 for a Geist 2 upgrade?

I can see there's some new content.
But there's a lot of other ways to spend $99 on new drum samples.
So tell me please - why is Geist 2 better?
The video trailer doesn't say, and there isn't a fact sheet on fxpansion's site I can find.
I've hardly used G1, preferring BFD and Battery.
I guess fx pansion will remedy this with more videos, but for now (i think) I'm sitting on the fence.

I think he is asking for other's opinions on WHAT they like about G2 over G1.. WHAT makes it worthwhile for you in paying the upgrade price?

So, in other words, he doesn't want to spend the time and work to find about the new features, and whether he needs those or not himself, but rather relies on others work and opinions? Can't really imagine that, but ok, maybe.VitaminD wrote:I think he is asking for other's opinions on WHAT they like about G2 over G1.. WHAT makes it worthwhile for you in paying the upgrade price?

I thought one of the purposes of a forum was to ask questions and get help and opinions from others.chk071 wrote:So, in other words, he doesn't want to spend the time and work to find about the new features, and whether he needs those or not himself, but rather relies on others work and opinions? It is indeed. I just wondered if VitaminD meant what i was saying, not blame the OP. But i don't think he meant to make other people make up HIS mind anyway. Although i stand by what i was saying, that he could just figure out what's new, and make up his mind.

Perhaps I jumped to conclusions, but it's quite often I see people @ KVR complaining about "pricing" for a new product. In some cases the complaints are actually legit, because some developers will add a few new lame features and ask for a heft upgrade fee. SO maybe this is just an innocent question coming from someone who is not familiar with Geist1, and if this is the case then I apologize.
*EDIT* Ok I just noticed that the OP indeed has not used Geist1 much, so ya I apologize. I would recommend to Kevvvv that he take the time to check out the workflow behind Geist1 because Geist2 basically just expands on it with a bunch of requested workflow features. I think that would make more sense..

Yes, it's a simple innocent question.
As VitaminD rightly implies.
I'm prob spoiled by other devs who make a big splash over a major upgrade.
And I like to hear hear other people's opinions as I'm not that proficient.

Looking at the updates list, these in particular catch my eye:
-Circuit-modelled filters, new effects, loop point modulation, 64 pads for slicing longer loops
-Vintage sampler emulation mode for authentic old-school crunch.

Kind of make me hope that they make it into an allround sampler, not just for drums. Edit: I think it is fairer to say that Geist 2 is more like a groovebox than a straight drum machine

Thanks Numanoid.
I saw them too.
But I thought (mistakenly?) my version 1 did most of that stuff
- and that V2 was mainly enhanced engineering, rather than some sort of new magic workflow, which is what gets me to buy or upgrade these days.
I've had a musically much more productive 12-18 months with the onset of fast-as-you-think GUI workflows.
Changed my life, it has

One thing i was really missing was the polyrhythm feature. seems not much, but for me this is a big one.
Even so, to be honest: they promissed a "nice" upgrade-price. but for a long geist user like me, its not really a "nice" price!
I think i will wait with the upgrade and test some more time.
But to someone who never used Geist 1 before, i would say: go directly with 2

It's difficult to say on release day how much more v2 can do than v1, based on the stated blurb only.kevvvvv wrote:- and that V2 was mainly enhanced engineering, rather than some sort of new magic workflow, which is what gets me to buy or upgrade these days.
Users need to demo, some will find the upgrade well worth the money, others like me will think that Geist 1 already was too complicated for a drum machine will pass on it
