FPC and C++, which is of course a bit of an extended project, and why it will follow FL Studio OS X 32 Bit.

I actually use both Eset and Kaspersky, depending on which computer I'm using or which client I'm advising. Kaspersky is best in the industry when it comes to protection, while Eset is close, but has some other advantages like better interface and cleaner low-footprint install. None of which can be said about any of the crap Symantec has been releasing for a decade.

I also have no problem reccomending Avast to anyone needing a dependable free anti-virus.

Well, I did not say you could not do it. But it absolutely sucks compared to most other DAWs for anything else besides 4/4. Sucks to the point I would switch to any other DAW instead for this.
I use FL since 4.14 version. Doing songs with odd time signatures has always been easy.
I used mostly 7/8, 5/8, 11/16 rhythms over the years (when it comes to odd time signatures) because these rhythms are all over the place in folklore music of my country and of course I'm familiar with them the most so it was fun to put them in different dimensions, outside of folklore music and their traditional usage, but I was experimenting with other odd time signatures as well of course.

The problem is you, not FL.
Since you are so arrogant I won't even spend time giving you any tips, hint or tutorial especially now when FL12 has one awesome feature that makes working with odd time signatures super easy, arrogant people deserve to dwell in ignorance and to suffer...suffer...suffer....suffer... :hihi:

...oooh the burn, lets be kind to each other, the world already has too much agro. 8)

Re time sig, it really is a case of just ignoring the grid, which it seems a lot of people can't do (for whatever reason). It's just a visual issue, not a technical one. Anyhow, we will be updating FL Studio in the future to include changes to the Piano roll & Playlist grid in response to Time Signature settings. Plus the downbeat on the metronome of course.

Image

Until then, TIP: There is a handy feature under View > Time segments > Markers, that you can use to change the grid shading to match your time-signature changes.

Jesus right??

I think one of the most absurd things I've heard is stating "xyz DAW only does this"

FFS I used to use FL for acoustic analysis.

Lol, you have probably not used any other DAW in your life because otherwise you'd know that FL Studio absolutely sucks donkey balls when it comes to dealing with time signatures other than the straight 4/4. It's most likely the only DAW that lacks proper support for dealing with multiple time signatures.

There are problems I'm willing to mess around with annoying and time-consuming workarounds, but not in the case of the most basic and elementary functions of composition. Can you do multiple time signatures in FL Studio? Probably. But it's f**cking annoying, to put it mildly. Especially as every other DAW has had it right like for 20 years or so already. To suggest that there is no problem with FL Studio is disingenious and dumb at best.

Hmmm. Hardly ignored you Teksonik...

http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.p ... 0&t=156015

As noted, we've informed you several times that this is being discussed, but you keep insisting for us to provide you with a definitive answer to your concerns before we have made any decisions. Why are you saying we ignored your questions, when those links clearly show its not the case?

For those who care, here's what we are investigating/testing and why:

IronSource is a monetising system that provides opt-out software options when you download an installer from the web-page. You can see IronSource in use by Adobe here (center panel "Optional offers", please also pay attention to what is on offer) ...

https://get.adobe.com/reader/

and here is our version

https://www.image-line.com/downloads/downloads.php

I am sure everyone here recognizes this system. Ok, but why are we looking into this? The FL Studio installer is downloaded well over 30,000 times per day. A significant chunk of that is by people cracking the software. We trace many requests back to warez sites. The team are investigating ways of monetizing that.

Paying customers, don't see any of this, they download direct from here -

http://www.image-line.com/downloads/fls ... nload.html

So, no Open Candy (we dropped that) and no IronSource. So really, the current system under test means improved service for paying customers (no more Open Candy) and the status quo for demo downloads.

So how much can this be worth? If we monetized it heavily? 100K USD/year. If we monetized it 'sensibly', 50K USD per year. That is a lot of money to leave on the table. Money that can go toward developing new plugins and features for FL Studio and OS X. Have we made any decision? No. As we have told Teksonik numerous times.

PS:

1. FL Studio for Mac OS X is progressing well - http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.p ... 5&t=145057
2. Lifetime Free Updates are non-negotiable, they stay.
3. Apologies for the issues on OS X (Maxx Claster) plugins, we will get around to fixing these. Maxx is flat out on FL Studio Mobile 3. When that is done we need him to rework his OS X plugins for FL Studio OS X too. So major updates are not only planned but required for the launch of FL Studio on OS X, which means they are on the top-priority roadmap.

Well, I am not one of your customers (Drumaxx aside) and just looking at this thread for entertainment purposes ( :hihi: ), but I have to give you Major kudos for this reply. It seems absolutely professional, nice, honest and straight to the point to me, i.e. it's pretty much perfect. Well done, Scott - makes me want to purchase some IL stuff...

IL has chosen to 'engage' with its customer base extremely directly, and the grace with which the entire crew (Scott especially) handles the more vocal of us is often impressive.

I certainly do not mean to imply anyone should take it easy on them though. :hihi:

Actually, the main reason is that those people are completely clueless about rhythms and time signatures. I play drums and guitar, I'm decent in music theory, when I'm doing odd time signatures in FL I'm not starring at the bars in piano roll, but at my notes instead. I met at least 10 people throughout years who were saying that FL sucks for anything than 4/4, each one of them was tested by me. Basically, it was like coming to Rambo and saying that explosive arrow sucks.
"Clap me 5/8?", nothing, "clap me 7/8?", nothing, "3/4, maybe? waltz, anyone?", nothing.
They want for DAW to insert them bars so that they can brainlessly insert notes and they can't work in odd time signature on their own or to create them...that's WHY they are starring at the bars and expecting DAW's help, it's not that DAW sucks, it's them who sucks.

If you want to argue with me then at least try to apply some logic in your arguments because what you said is not making ANY sense.
I started using DAW's back in 1999, first it was Music2000 and ReBirth, then Cubase 5...and the rest is history. Every single DAW out there went through my hands and my second most used DAW is Reaper.

What you are saying is that I should work in other DAW's to realize that FL sucks at something which I can do with it easily. Does this makes ANY sense?

Like I already said, you are the problem, not FL.

Just for the sake of other people who will be reading this, I'll explain how I do it so that people can realize how completely clueless you are on a simple example.

What Scott didn't mention, which is btw the most crucial thing, is the ability to place Marker in piano roll:

Image

This way you control how long your pattern/clip is long, make sure to set it to "Pattern Length".
This means that you are able to make ANY TIME SIGNATURE YOU WANT and actually to go full retard when it comes to time signatures.
You'll see that the pattern's length is adjusted in Playlist as well. If you drag the right border of your pattern/clip in Playlist, you'll notice "arrow" or the Marker you placed in your pattern/clip:
Image

Also, I created 3-4 clips which are all in DIFFERENT time signatures in like 3 minutes and placed them into playlist because of this GIGANTIC idiotic thing:
Can you do multiple time signatures in FL Studio? Probably.
Probably?
I just did 3-4 different time signatures in 3 minutes.
I used FPC, drums, place music over it.
Probably?
Did I prove that you are completely clueless? I did.

Don't be so self-important. You obviously FAILED because you proved the point people here are making.

If I want to ignore the grid then I'll might as well go back to tape or digital 8-track. Obviously I can use any time signature with those too, but this does not change the fact that FL Studio is absolutely the worst DAW when it comes to dealing with time signatures. In any complex track doing a signature change would result in a complete mess afterwards when trying to organize the clips. And god help if one might want to use the click track when recording. Like I said this is such a basic thing that one should not have to mess with stupid workarounds. FL Studio is the only DAW which can not do it properly, end of story. Every other DAW I have used has got it right long time ago, so do not come to tell here that the problem is with the people who complain.

This is how it needs to be:

Can FL Studio do any of this? Nope!

Quite obviously. I have been using FL Studio since it was Fruity Loops 2. But I have always kept another DAW beside it. It's really annoying that every time someone points out any of the shortcomings of FL Studio IL and it's rabid fanboys try to convince everyone that the problem must be with the person complaining and not with FL Studio. Which in 95% of the cases is obvious BS for anyone who has used any other DAW in their life. It's actually quite the opposite - the shortcomings of FL Studio are clear as day for people who have used more complex DAW's like PT, DP, Logic or whatever.

And don't get me wrong, I think Fruity Loops has come a long way and I do like how it has developed - it's still my favorite DAW. But this does not mean that there aren't any problems with it. There's plenty of things where FL Studio absolutely sucks compared to other DAW's. It's just that IL and its fanboys are usually in severe denial about it. Now I can understand the fanboys, but when IL suggest that there's no need for a particular feature because, you know, you can do the same thing with a 25-click one hour workaround (for a task that in any other DAW takes one click and a second) or that a particular bug is actually feature, it makes my sh1t boil.

Of course there are problems with FL Studio (aka Fruity Loops) as with any other DAW. I also own Ableton Live 9 and I used to use Cubase a lot back in the day. I know for a fact that there are many bad things that can be said about those DAW's as well. As there are fan boys there are also the oposite :p. You seems so passionate about FL Studio so I was just curious if you actually owned it or not :D

Personally I don't have a problem with the time signature in FL. I do Think the quantization options could be a lot better, but again I am not loosing sleep over that. As with anything in Life, things are easy when you know how to handle it. If you don't know it might be difficult.

Fortunately there is no law forcing people to use a certain DAW, or any other plugin for that matter. The Music World is a free World and it's the users choice :)
