I'll have to ask, though you might be able to ask Angus about it directly on his forum.

Hey E & others,
I personally don't know of any such kit pieces besides that Paiste hi hat. Bitcrusher may be able to enlighten us some more on that, though. As far as big-name associations (same make & model, not necessarily the same drum) with the BFD kit pieces go:-
- there's the Ludwig Blue Sparkle kit, used by Ringo Starr.
- the Lucite kit (on original BFD) and tambourine mounted hi hat (XFL) used by Bonham
- the Tama bronze snare used by Dave Grohl on Nevermind (we think it may be the same actual drum, but this is unconfirmed)
- the Chad Smith snare on XFL
Steve aka Bitcrusher will be able to tell you about various others.
BTW, we have certainly not ruled out the possibility of BFD being able to load other libraries (SID and DKFH) in future... BFD is unarguably the most capable engine, and backed up by people (SKoT_FX in particular) with the skills to keep it far ahead of the pack, but each library has its own different & distinctive sound, and every engineer has their own tastes.
Our only concern there, really, is acoustic space compatibility... place a snare from DKFHS on a BFD kit, and it won't sound completely real - the ambient mic signatures and room decay are quite different, and with current technology it's not possible to "undo" that (deconvolution-convolution doesn't work well enough).

Yes, they more-or-less do. I believe Steve used a different outside mic for the kick in a couple of cases, but for the direct mics that's not really a problem. The rooms, overheads and PZMs, and the rest of the directs, were the same mics, with the same placement, as the original BFD session.

it would ROCK if there was a way to load SID or DFHS, then i would definetly consider buying them as well.
the main issue i have with both is the engine. I dont want to use kontakt, halion or giga for it, and i dont want to use DFHS' engine.
BFD just has so many options, so many possibilities, and is SOOOO nice performance wise.
there should be a way

Agreed, the ability to load other banks would be highly appreciated even if the convolution doesn't line up quite right.
Thanks for all the info on the kits, Angus! Have you thought about updating your site's demos at all? I know that Jason Toney from Sonic loves using BFD with his V-Drums & would be more than happy to help you with that.

Some pieces in XFL (and BFD factory content) might be owned by famous drummers, and/or used on classic records, but I don't believe in using anyones name for promotion if I have not spoken to them about that side of things....
With that said I'm in contact with some of the biggest-name drummers (thanks to friends and BFD) and there are a few very big names I'm excited about willing to do BFD libraries. More on that later I'm sure
Best
Steve

Funny you should mention updated demos, E - MM_FX is working on some right now, and we are awaiting delivery of a Clavia ddrum4 to get some more live action going

Could someone discuss the different keyboard layouts of SID vs BFD. I was going through the Scarbee's site and it had a few things I really liked.
Having different sounding hits at similar velocities, so that the drumming patterns sound varied....
Controlling different drums with the mod-wheel. I believe snare, kicks, and high hats...
I have BFD, but am not able to "play" with it for a few days. SO, I want to have a varying sounding snare hits, at similar velocities, how is this addressed?

Steve,
Give Dave Witte a call. Hes in Discordance Axis and Burnt by the Sun.
He uses a Trick kit. Very distinct toms. Primarily for fast, heavy music (ala grindcore), but still great sounding.
