Hey I am really curious as to how you are using SX live Groovebox style???

Please can you enlarge and enlighten on this???

I have been trying out Live4 and think it is a great way for banging out some ideas and getting tunes down real quick. If only SX had a Jam mode and recorded all your song structuring down for you ala Live, then it would be the Uber sequencer that everyone would crave.

cheers

Sascha,

Here's a current thread on the Nuendo forum that is typical of the nonsense that Steinberg get up to.

http://forum.nuendo.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/021603.html

They add a "feature" that no one asked for, that no one wants - including the beta-testers - and at the same time the new "feature" breaks things :(

I have no idea what possesses them to behave this way, but it's been going on for a long time and persists.

having spent the weekend with the manual, I'm feeling better. Still, that mixer view Sascha posted sure looks nice and..dare I say it? logical.

Another one that just hit me:
WHY OH WHY can't you open the key editor OR the arrange as a float (allways on top) window???
One of my ABSOLUTLEY most used screensets in Logic is having one of them on the main screen, the other on the secondary.
Yes, I could resize the main program window, but that a) is highly annoying in case you don't use monitors of the same size and resolution and b) it wastes a LOT of space for title bars and whatever.
A it seems I have to live with the lame program window resizing compromise.
Seriously, why doesn't Steinberg offer a functionality to open each and every window as an allways on top one? I can't see any logic (haha) behing THEM deciding what might be floating and what not.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Sascha,

It all goes back to the fact that SX was built on Nuendo and Steinberg removed Window Layouts, which were central to the way it Nuendo (v1) operates. Ever since they made this, frankly, idiotic move, they have been trying, unsuccessfully, to plug the holes it created.

Nuendo was never designed to operate like Cubase VST, but that's what Steinberg tried to do - clearly without much thought - when creating Nuendo 2, er, I mean Cubase SX.

All we can do is hope that they clear up the mess with v3. However, Steinberg have a long history of not admitting mistakes to themselves, so they will undoubtedly find a third way, which will, of course, have a whole new set of problems. This is part of life with using Steinberg products.

The whiners will, of course, start bleating about still being able to make music with it :D But man, it could been so, so much better.
