Hello everybody!

For an absolute starter, is there a place where I can find an explanations for all those terms - Sequencers, DAWs, Audio Editors, plugins, VST, and (very important!) etc., how they relate one to other, what are requirements and what is not needed at all for, for example, just playing on a DP (for even more complete starters than I am: DP stands for "digital piano").

Thank you!

Better not use the acronym like this though, because, here, DP usually stands for "Digital Performer", which is a sequencer software. I never heard someone using the acronym DP for a digital piano on the other hand.

Thank you Mushy Mushy, the article about Sequencers seems to be a good start!

Thank you chk071 for correction! Although I do know places where DP is used for "digital piano", but will of course follow conventions of this forum

Ok, i didn't know that, fair enough. :) Probably just me being rather fixed on software products than hardware.

Happy to help.

Wikipedia will have all of these terms on there.

Seems you are at the wrong address; this site is full of know-it-alls and I'm one them

DP = Digital Piano? That's a first for me as well...
Anyway, what's needed for that is the same as for an analog piano: someone sitting on the stool hitting the keys.

So DP's are plug&play. But you have to supply the player :)

I am a nobody, but I just do like so many others. If I don't know the answer to a question I simply make one up :hihi:

Here is a good terminology link, http://edmprod.com/glossary/

By the way...I just noticed that the terminology, Fat, Smooth, Rich, Lush, and some others did not exist in the glossary :P
