You would think they would want to give the editor away for free to encourage content developers to jump on board.

85€ for this? Laughable. Sorry, if thats the new way of "In-Daw Purchases" i'm happy to support smaller devs without that crap. It's not like S1 costed only a few bucks in the past. Imagine you bought the expensive Pro edition of a DAW and half of it is not that pro you might thought.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

So what you are saying is that you are not gonna buy it then?murnau wrote:85€ for this? Laughable. Agreed. It's in everyone's interest to promote the usage of Presence XT. There's a few ways I'd encourage Presonus to do that:billcarroll wrote:You would think they would want to give the editor away for free to encourage content developers to jump on board.
1. Sell Presence XT as a standalone instrument in the most popular formats (VST2, VST3, AU, AAX)
2. Open the edit page to everyone
3. Encourage developers and users to create content for the sampler
I'm not a fan of the Kontakt UI/workflow, so an easier to use alternative that had comparable scripting and UI options to Kontakt would be appealing, but it couldn't be locked into my DAW. No big whoop though...I'll just keep buying Kontakt libraries until there's a real alternative. From a basic playback perspective, Kontakt's pretty darn amazing as is.

I have plenty of synths, and I hardly ever load up Presence XT anymore, maybe the grand piano now and again, but not for much more than that. But I truly do love S1, and yes it is my main DAW, been with them since version 1. Loyal to S1 because I like the way it works, and I haven't found anything else that works better for me!
But, I gotta say, I too really do think this editor "function" should have been built into Presence XT (at least for S1Pro) from the get go, not as an additional paid option. This does and will deter potential sound designers (especially those on a budget). And the lack of the editing features in Presence XT is the main reason I quite using it sometime ago. So, for me Presence XT has been nothing more than a sample playback device that I hardly even touch anymore. I used the original Presence way more than I have even thought about Presence XT. When I read the email talking about the Editor I was like "Yea, finally" , then I went and checked into it. Gotta say, the price tag on it sealed the deal for me!!
Anyway, since I hardly use Presence XT, I really can't see me handing over the money they are asking for the additional functionality. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like they are kinda gouging the customer on this one.
Sorry Presonus, but I will be skipping this one!
Just my two cents!

Yeah I agree, for me the issue is this; Presence XT as a sample player is irrelevant to me as I didn't like the samples it came with anyway and deleted almost all of them to save space. If it was possible to make my own instruments with it it would see more use as having a built in sampler in a DAW is useful sometimes rather than having to load something like Kontakt or Falcon, but I don't feel motivated enough to shell out £65 for it given that I do have them, and I suspect that would be the case for a lot of people so this is ill judged. I may reconsider if they have a half price sale or something.TEKing66 wrote: But, I gotta say, I too really do think this editor "function" should have been built into Presence XT (at least for S1Pro) from the get go, not as an additional paid option. I was going to answer your point but this last comment is both incorrect and inexcusable flaming. Learn to deal with the fact that different people have different opinions.green with envy wrote: Amazing these haters still haven't been banned. Probably don't even own S1. Plain nuts.

I'll fall in the middle of the various strong opinions.
1. Presence probably should have basic single layer sample loading and editing like Sample One built in for free. I agree with that.
2. If you also wanted the other stuff, then buy the extension. Like somebody here said, no daw sampler does all that for free so not sure why anyone expects it for free, it's not common to get that for free in a stock sampler anywhere afaict.
But that's how it always goes with their add-ons, when they put out something new a certain percentage of people always say it should be free. The same thing happened with the channel strip collection.
Anyone making any money at all with the app won't blink at the $70, if they need it. Anyone not making money with it probably shouldn't be spending $4-5-600 for music software anyway.

Is there even a demo on presence XT editor though?
Is there any cross compatibility between user made instruments produced in kontakt and presence xt editor? (ease of porting?)
Does the presence XT scripted allow any sort of GUI modding? I assume no, but I haven't delved too deep.

Afaik, there are no demos of anything that's an extension add-on.qtheerearranger wrote:Is there even a demo on presence XT editor though?
Kontakt 4.x and previous instruments yes. NI changed the format after that so Kontakt 5.x programs aren't compatible with S1 afaik. They collaborated with Bitwig on one format so there's some compatibility there. Is there any cross compatibility between user made instruments produced in kontakt and presence xt editor? The export format is *.soundx which may be a open format that anyone can support, it's xml. Afaict, not having tried all of the supported formats, Bitwig is the only one I saw so far that can go both ways, import and export from either to either. No clue if Kontakt or Halion or Mach 5 support any of those format for importing.
There are 16 GUI controls that you can do anything with, the controls in the center section, but you can't create custom graphical UI's like I suppose Kontakt does, afaik anyway.Does the presence XT scripted allow any sort of GUI modding? I assume no, but I haven't delved too deep.
Looking at a Kontakt script tutorial, the functions, it seems they followed that scripting model pretty closely, but used a different language. But Kontakt is a beast so... it would be unreasonable to expect that anywhere.
It's certainly not Kontakt, but it's a reasonably good approximation of it in a host.
