Hi Guys ,
I want to know how to connect multiple midi controllers within cubase .
I have a live program in a day . I have Korg Nanokey and Korg X50 (which is used as midi controller ) .
I want to use a sample and a couple of samples from omnisphere .
How do I connect it in such a way that when a key is pressed on nanokey , it triggers kontakt and when a key in X50 is pressed ,it triggers omnisphere ?
Any advice soon would be greatly appreciated .
Thanks in advance .

I dont know if it works but you can try this:
Add two instrument tracks, one with Kontakt, one with omnisphere, in the inspector you can choose which midi input should be used. Assign your Nano to the kontakt channel and your X50 to the omnisphere channel. Now you have to activate the record button on both tracks. The problem is: when you click on the inspector only the chosen channel will be record enabled and you have to click on the other record button again.

anyhow, select the track and in the inspector on the left there should be an entry "All MIDI Inputs". Click that window and a drop down will appear that should have your MIDI controllers showing in it. Select the one you want for a specific track and it will restrict to that controller only. You can also set the input MIDI channel as well.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Should I select all the channels I am playing and play so that only intended controller will be triggered ?
I also have one more question . I want to layer 2 omnisphere patches together at once . When I select both of them , I am able to play both together on my midi controller . How do I group them as one channel in cubase ?

Sorry, I don't know what that means. All you have to do is set the input of a given track to the controller you want to trigger the VSTi on that trackvignesh.vijay wrote: Should I select all the channels I am playing and play so that only intended controller will be triggered ?
Again, I'm not exactly sure what that means. You can have multiple tracks responding to the same input MIDI port and channel. So, having two tracks being controlled by 1 controller is as simple as using the same settings on both tracks. How do I group them as one channel in cubase ?

Or you could just click on the monitor symbol on each track. There is no need to press the record enable button. Didnt know this before. AFAIK it is not possible to assign to synths to the same track in Cubase, but if someone knows better i am willing to learn. But you could use Omnispheres multimode to layer your sounds.

right, as I said one or the other. Either will put the track in monitor mode. I have the preference set to record selected track and I have the record choice set to tape machine. That way, I can automatically monitor the selected track so it responds to external controllers.blaubär wrote:Or you could just click on the monitor symbol on each track. Directly this is true. But there are work arounds like software MIDI ports that allow loop back. So you can send a single MIDI track out to the loop back port, then set the input to that port on as many VSTi as you want.AFAIK it is not possible to assign to synths to the same track in Cubase
But, as you pointed out, lots of VSTi have a multi mode that allows layering inside one instance.

The little red button on the track listing. First button on the left, second line.vignesh.vijay wrote:I also have one more question . I want to layer 2 omnisphere patches together at once . Hit that button for Omnisphere 1, press the shift key and hit that button for Omnisphere 2, both instances will play as one. You can stack up a lot of layers that way, quick and easy.
