Hope they don't feel ashamed that I listened to their music while showling hay in silo, working down on the farm :scared:

I chop firewood to The Orb's Blue Room 8)
That's cool, really. But it isn't what i was getting at. I was thinking that having your cake is one thing but eating it is another.

But now that you mention it, the listener is afforded this luxury. Maybe the artist should be too?

i dunno, but it makes a good case for artist being obscure or off topic in interviews. know what i mean?

This comment made me rethink my original judgement.

I'm still not a fan, but I do applaud the pushing of boundaries.
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Because it's more familiar?
not really. when i was saying it was 'ok', i didnt really mean it was 'ok' as in 'all good'. more as in mediocre. not even in a charming way, to me. but it's just me.

but, like brussel sprouts, as much as i would like to like their particular flavor i just don't and even find them slightly offensive. i guess that's ok?

anyway, 'familiarity' has nothing to do with it.

by any sort of judgement they have succeeded in being controversial, which is always better than not succeeding at all.

anyway, good for them. or good on them?

do_androids_dream wrote:Another very curious observation.. You seem to be again implying there is confusion there because they're not making music that is familiar to you.
ok, last one. i thought it was obvious that i was implying that there is some confusion there on their part. nothing wrong with that, well executed.

Do Oasis dress like they do because their hardcore fans dress like that, or is it the other way around? I think both are shaped by each other...

I think every band/project that has been going for several decades establish a special relationship with their fanbase in one way or another.

i've bought, dubbed and downloaded every possible great and terrible hendrix everything i could. i know what you are saying. i don't dress like him (jeezus) but you're right. still, you know, he was very obscure in interviews... :D

what i can take away from this is 'eh, i don't care about this band much' = 'eh, don't comment'

i did know better, though.

i've felt that way about some of their previous albums then 2 years later put one of them on and finally "heard" it and it was the best thing ever sort of an "oh duh.. i get it". not experienced that too often in the music world. it's nice when it happens though.

^It happened to me too (not particularly with Ae), but it's extremely rare here. In more than 95% of cases, if I don't like something now, I won't like it a few years later either.
