I think for me it's not the case of having problems in a general sense. Of course every DAW has some kind of problems as there's no perfect DAW. It's the case of lacking in places that are absolute fundamentals that have been properly implemented in all other DAW ages ago.ATN69 wrote:Of course there are problems with FL Studio (aka Fruity Loops) as with any other DAW.

Well..what is fundamental can be very different for different people. Time signature is obviously a big deal for you but not so much for me.

Well, yes and no. Although i partly agree on bringing TS's to FL Studio, it still is a sequencer. And in a sequencer 1 TS can be selected (normally, traditionally). Now, is that to say that FL Studio shouldn't evolve into a DAW with TS? I dunno. I can work with the way patterns work. Hell, i can do all kinds of weird stuff without being lost in what is what.robotmonkey wrote:I think for me it's not the case of having problems in a general sense. However, some native TS addition would be nice, just to be able to use it if you really "need/want" it. Or to export midi with differents TS's.
For me, it isn't necessary at all. I remember where FL Studio came from and what it basically is; a(n) (advanced) sequencer (and a damn good one!)

I am not for it or against it. If they want to add a easier way to control time signature, okay go for it. Great!
..but I have done Pop, Rick, Jazz, Progressive Trance, House music and even folk music with FL Studio without any problems. Everything is easy when you know how to do it, if not it might be difficult. In the end it is a matter of learning and experience.

Not every DAW is suited to all tasks, so users should choose DAW best suited to the music they want to make.
When using a lot of different time signatures, and programming beats, I prefer using a tracker like Psycle for example

It's been explained to you thoroughly how to deal with different time signatures in FL and you ignore everything because you are arrogant person and you are moving things to a starting point, robotmonkey wrote: Don't be so self-important. You obviously FAILED because you proved the point people here are making.
a point where you act clueless and how everyone is clueless like you just to prove your point.
See? You are not even making a difference between tempo and time signature and you act stupid. If I want to ignore the grid then I'll might as well go back to tape or digital 8-track.
No matter in what time signature your clip is, it will always snap to grid in Playlist unless you turn off snapping. If you turn off snapping and place clips by your hand, which is "ignoring the grid", then you have problems with tempo, NOT with time signature(s). You are either acting stupid or actually don't have a clue what you are talking about.
"With those too"? WTF that supposed to mean?Obviously I can use any time signature with those too, but this does not change the fact that FL Studio is absolutely the worst DAW when it comes to dealing with time signatures.
Since FL stopped being drum machine and evolved into DAW there were pattern blocks all the way to FL12.
The length of your pattern(s) was controlled by inserting number in channel rack.
When IL removed pattern blocks and to compensate things they removed that "number button" and allowed users to just stretch channel rack (while in sequencer mode) to change the length of pattern/clip. This obviously wasn't enough and they implemented Marker in Piano Roll so that the user has full control of pattern/clip length.
For someone who is saying:
you are not just clueless, but you obviously NEVER understood how to work with different time signatures in FL, you simply DON'T UNDERSTAND the basics. Actually, this applies to any other DAW because you DON'T understand time signatures.Quite obviously. I have been using FL Studio since it was Fruity Loops 2.
Is it ME or YOU who is having problems working with different time signatures in FL?It's just that IL and its fanboys are usually in severe denial about it.
Oh, arrogant drama queen is completely clueless, let's flame people how they are fanboys and IGNORE everything they say:
and arrogant drama queen ignores it and keeps on with:brainzistor wrote: I started using DAW's back in 1999, first it was Music2000 and ReBirth, then Cubase 5...and the rest is history. Every single DAW out there went through my hands and my second most used DAW is Reaper.
Videos.robotmonkey wrote: It's really annoying that every time someone points out any of the shortcomings of FL Studio IL and it's rabid fanboys try to convince everyone that the problem must be with the person complaining and not with FL Studio. Which in 95% of the cases is obvious BS for anyone who has used any other DAW in their life.
You are laughable, show me what I already knew for years.
You do realize that it's just a visual help that has NOTHING to do with dealing with time signatures?
Do you REALIZE IT? Can your brain actually process this information at all? It's been said to you already 2-3 times and you keep ignoring it and acting like visual help has something to do with working with different time signatures.
You do realize that you can work with whatever time signature you want in ANY DAW you want without changing the global time signature in your song?
Here's the same thing in Reaper. Note, clueless bozo, SAME THING applies to ANY DAW out there:

I placed patterns in various different time signatures (3/4, 5/4, 11/16, 7/8, 9/8, etc.) and the song is still in 4/4. I turned off grid in Playlist just to show you that it's completely irrelevant as a visual help because WHAT MATTERS are YOUR CLIPS, NOT global time signature, not main bars in playlist snapping to your clips, etc. If you can't comprehend this then you are simply stupid and completely clueless.
It's more than obvious that you think that different time signature has something to do with tempo or that it's affecting the tempo of your song and if you don't change global time signature in your song that DAW won't play it correctly. I mean, I can only guess because this level of stupidity is hard to comprehend.

Even if not... I can name you a thousand things, which FLS is able to do what others can´t... that´s how it is and always has been...robotmonkey wrote:Please point me to where FL Studio can do any of that shown in the videos that other DAW's can do. I bet you cant!brainzistor wrote:...
If it don´t works for you...don´t use it and go with Reaper or whatever you like...
Imho, time signature changes are for me more than unimportant... how much nowadays music makes use of it???
0.1% or perhaps 0.2% .... there is more important stuff to work at...

No.. It's up to you... You have to test before buy. You are just trying to defend your mistake by making a speech Win vs. Mac. But it won't change the fact you didn't test.TheoM wrote:If i buy cross platform software, i can't always be expected to demo the other platform at the same time. No you can't.

I don't like compatibility issue either. I hope it works off the bat. I understand it sucks when it doesn't get fixed. I have many products that didn't work with all machine.TheoM wrote: strongly disagree with cross platform software, and when dev acknowledges the problems and has been promising fixes for 8 years. But of course you are entitled to your opinion, and thank you for being polite about it
But it doesn't matter whether cross-platform or not. Even in the same OS, there is actually compatibility issue - to say nothing of completely different system.
