For the price point Logic (i know, no VST) on a mac is a must (of course it's not really).
I don't think there is a better package out there for this money. Maybe Komplete Ultimate but that's a grand and comes with a 440 GB which you might never use most of the stuff.
Logic is not the holy grail but alone synths like Sculpture, Alchemy 2 and FX like the delay and space designer are worth the price also you get over 30 GB of samples, loops etc.
I just explored the intern instruments and FX after some months and realized that they are awesome.
Even the retro synth and ES2 are excellent.
I don't know why i bought so many plug-ins? :o

Sorry for your loss, man

I don't use numerology, but I've heard fantastic things about it
Sinevibes make great plugins, and I think Logic is a no-brainer. Even if you don't want to use it as a main daw, for the price of a good vst synth you get some great tools

How about panning which doesn't just change volume between left and right channels but also allows you to blend in delay and spectrum based panning? That way, you don't just move the position within the stereo field but can also adjust the perceived width.

Also, check out the tilt eq. With really minor adjustments, you can change the frequency balance from bright to dull without compromising the signal's character.

The Tone Control has a very sweet high end/air band control which to my ears is completely free of harshness.

The compressor and limiter combo does really nice things to the drum buss.

And the tremolo effect can compete soundwise with the Soundtoys one.

But overall, your first investment has to be Logic Pro X. The effects and instruments are second to none at this price point. You could try and go cheap with MainStage and use the Mac as just an instrument but I still prefer Logic as a DAW to everything else. Well, ableton Live for speaking to a very different area in my brain is a great addition :phones:
Goodhertz would have been my suggestion too! But, yeah... still AU at the moment. I'm definitely interested in the VST version as well so I wait patiently.

Not only do they have a unique approach to the UI, sound and workflow but they are also just rock solid stable. Trem Control is one of my absolute favorites.

Very much appreciated input peeps-
I'm glad I started this thread,
I would never have found all this.

The kindnesses to mine are nice too ty.

I wanted to change my emphasis on VST,
anything that has been built well(no bugs), has a thoughtful and attractive UI
and produces sound creatively would be of interest in VST,AU or standalone.

I'm still hung up on a boxed MX4, and Logic((Alchemy and EXS24(?is that the name of the sampler)).
I will get these ones in time-
also Prosoniq Orange Vocoder

Metasynth looks tasty

ta for the contributions all, I'll remember to search KVR on similar bents Vortex-Nice one!

Motu DP demo, which I got yesterday, is twitchy as anything on Win10 lappy-
so I may end up with this one on the responsive little Mac
Nice to know MX4 is in there now, fmr!

I will have to try and set up El Capitan(and update to current here) on another partition to run Logic.
Is there anything I should know about trying to pull a move like that Mac tribe?
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

A cool elegant one is Archetype Instruments Lokomotiv-
in 64-bit too

Not sure if mentioned, but anything from SineVibes:

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(
