I had seen this movie at the Theater , I agree the music was great . Radioheads everything in its right place in surround sound deadening an incredible experience ... I totally forgot Kurt Russell was the Shrink in the movie ...

What's wrong with Saturday Night Fever?

I still like that stuff, also Flashdance. In both cases I only saw the movie years after I first heard the soundtrack.
This topic is more about memories than music. There are a few songs that I despise musically speaking, but I like them because they are associated with pleasant memories. Usually one can't decide which music happens to play when something good happens.

Composer Ennio Morricone recalled director Sergio Leone requesting him to write "Dimitri Tiomkin music" for A Fistful of Dollars. The trumpet theme is similar to Tiomkin's "Deguella" while the Italian title of Rio Bravo was Un Dollaro D'onore.

Not to in any way discount the contributions of Morricone who, along with Takemitsu and a few others, composed the music to so many great films of the second half of the 20th century.

Valid points. I don't think anyone here's trying to be "elitist" (at least, I hope not). The tricky thing about discussing movies and music is that some people (not anyone in this thread, that I've seen) try to make it sound as if "their" movies are good and everything else is dreck.

Saturday Night Fever is the best-selling soundtrack of all time. There are some catchy songs and excellent production on it. Even the title song to Grease is related, since it was also penned by Barry Gibb. That style (not just "disco" as a genre) spawned many imitators, and you can't dismiss it.

I think there's room in here for all opinions.
