Configuring kX drivers for Audio Input?

(Just to finish up with the last few threads I created, I decided to stay with the SBLive! for now (will get Emu 0404 with the laptop whenever I do get it) and got Sony MDR-7506 headphones instead of monitors (will just use computer speakers as always for casual listening or general applications not requiring he detail and transparency).)



Anyway, my question is about the kX drivers. I'm trying to get them to recognize my Mic input (it's the kind where it plugis into the side of the computer speakers, so it's not line in or anything), but they won't. In the AC97 section of the 'kX Mixer', if I unmute the mic, you can definitely hear it, but I can't figure out how to make sequencers recognize it as an input. Any ideas? Thanks.

I may be running an old version of KX, but here's how I did it.

1) In kx mixer, click the dsp button
2) route epilog asio0 (see tooltip) to prolog AC97 in0
3) route epilog asio1 (see tooltip) to prolog AC97 in1
4) go to AC97 in mixer and set AC97 to Mic

oh, and you may have to enable AC97 as a recording source in the Recording section of the kx mixer...

Thanks for the help, jorgen! What's what I'd been trying before, though. It still doesn't seem to show up. On that last point (enabling AC97 as a recording source) would you mind elaborating? I'm not too sure how I would do that. Thanks again, though!

In the 'recording page' in the kx mixer, make sure AC97 is enabled (sound on). There is a tiny round shaped button just below the AC97 faders that you can toggle on/off...

Yeah, the AC97 in the recording page is not muted, but it still doesn't work. Thanks, though; I agree, it SHOULD worr, but for some reason it doesn't .

Can't remember exactly, but I think you have to unmute it on the ins'n'outs page. Also make sure you have levels on the AC97s and the mic input turned up.

here's how I do it


assuming you are set up as described earlier in the thread,


go to the ac97 page. under the blue ? there is a drop down menu. select mic

on the ins-and-outs page make sure the ac97 is enabled and turned up.

in your host, select kxin00/01 as your input source and turn on "input preview/audition" in your host. ( I think this is called end-to-end in tracktion)

Thanks, scuzzphut, but I figured out the problem thanks to someone who is in a similar situation. (The list of inputs is the list of possible audio inputs in FL Studio, the size of which seemed be zero). The AC97 stuff was all set up; the problem was in the samplerate.

Apparently the inputs only show up in 48kHz. Also, the settings in the sequencer have to match the settings in the ASIO driver for it to work. Is there a disadvantage to working in 48kHz, rather than 41.whatever? I think the drivers may have to be oversampling to be able to support the samplerate, so it might not be the best way.

Also, the OUTPUT level in the "Ins'n'Outs" section of the Mixer controls the INPUT level in the sequencer, which means you hear it double. Pretty strange.. but anyway, problem solved (at least THAT problem )
