...with ivory American Grand you can get a much better sound as in 2 (as in 1 anyway).logburner wrote: 2 could be a sample piano but I don't know such a good sounding piano library so my guess is 2 is a real piano.
But i don't know any (famous or non famous) pianist who plays that piece in such a creepy way.
Whoever did this, is completely ignorant about that piece.
The complete lack of rubato, the missing dynamic balance between right and left hand points to
a midi file. Or maybe a zombie pianist.

This is absolutely untrue.logburner wrote:Sustain and release stage sound sterile and artificial on Pianoteq.

I don't have Ivory American D, but online demos sound great. One of the best piano libraries to my ears.Arrested Developer wrote:...with ivory American Grand you can get a much better sound as in 2 (as in 1 anyway).logburner wrote: 2 could be a sample piano but I don't know such a good sounding piano library so my guess is 2 is a real piano.
With comparison to the clip 2, Ivory American D sounds a bit more high-mid forward sounding and has less hammer striking string noise in my observation. Started feeling it could be NI's Grandeur...

1. recording sounds like Pianoteq to me too.
2. recording sounds like real piano to me with comparison with first record.
But my guess is 1. real record if it is true or midi record
2. Pianoteq
I listen the performance too not only sound. 1. is more dynamic with tempo, more human.

the second one sounds robotic, as if it's just a MIDI file downloaded from the Internet. so provided one is a recording and the other one is Pianoteq (i.e. provided you didn't lie about what the two files are), i'd say the second is Pianoteq. the first one sounds like someone actually played it. if you're going to put up such a comparison, at least have the decency of showcasing both at their best - find a good MIDI performance by someone.oscarolarte wrote:Which one is the real thing????

One is a professional recording played by one of the best pianist in the world.
The other one is MIDI and PianoTeq 5 - D4
This is like a blind test with wine, will see who knows.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

obviously this guy sells lame midi files, pretending having played them.oscarolarte wrote:The second one is 01 Liebestraum No. 3, S. 541 _Love Dream_by Walter Rinaldi.
If you play that piece on a real piano, you will see how much sympathetic resonances build up in some passages.

but isn't that the point? pianoteq is pretty great, but it's not (yet) definitive (it does seem to get better with each new iteration)...oscarolarte wrote:OK, i'll have to try harder, is true.

Don't bother ED. That is only useless "yada yada yada".
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

2 seems to have a very steady tempo is rather quantized. It may play all the notes at exactly the prescribed moment, but there is no performance to speak of, so it can't be a renowned pianist. Listen to the end of the first phrase. That should be all you need to hear. #2 sounds good, though. Bit steel-y.Oberheim 8000 wrote:I listen the performance too not only sound. 1. is more dynamic with tempo, more human.
Edit: I wrote this trying not to read the rest of the thread, but oscar seems to imply that #1 was Pianoteq?
