1. WTF... when was the last time we had "The best reverb thread? on KVR" If memory serves me correctly, it was Hibidy (now Incubus) who created that last "best reverb" thread comparing convo to convo (so minus the algo reberbs.... but reverbical added a new twist, but can we see more????). We used to get these threads every 3 months or so... What's changed?
2. So is EDM dead, overcome by a POP takeover (blended - Picture Terry Cew singing).... Seriously what's next, or is there a next?
3. Hosts? So we've got a Reason 9 on the horizon... with seemingly minimal additions. Is there a future we can look forward to, or is it really a matter of accepting the first host to present a stable platform, with video, OMF and sample editing that takes the cake? I love the approach of the new Traktion, but seriously... where are we headed? Is there new ground to break? I would think that that creating an easier stress free workflow is where its at but at this point is there room to grow without alienating the old folks?
4. Synths... What's next? Is there new ground to cover? At this point, it feels like a matter of waiting to see if NI can expand upon Massive and if U-he can drop a mic after releasing Zebra-3. Arcsyn... Thank you for the new UI, but where you at in the future of a possible Massive 2 and Zebra 3?
5. Effects... Can we get another delay. Seriously.. Please add another delay as a brand new product, because we don't have enough already. I'm waiting on Fabifliter to step it up, but is there room to grow?

Bring on the lama!!incubus wrote:Meh, your bumbling attempts at poking a viper with a stick (my last reverb thread a couple of years ago) will result in your mother becoming a lama!
Seriously that was the last one, wasn't it???
I swear these popped up almost on a weekly basis, but since then its been a matter of which Valhalla DSP should a user buy vs. what's the best! Is this a good thing?

"Best reverb" threads are even more pointless than "best synth" thredas, or this vs. that. Reverbs are extremely subjective. I never found a good recommendation here for me. This might sound a bit upnosed (it shouldn't be, really), but i'm not very fond of the "ear" of most users here either. Or i do have a completely different ear. Definitely possible.

There's some interesting developments in the world of VR: a fully immersive music host has been mooted (sorry for the alliteration, but in the spirit of the thread I've already imbibed some shandys...).
eh?

I was trying to be funny, in no matter way shape or form do I think elxsound was bumbling or do I want his mother to turn into a lama (which was a little of a reaper reference, more fail)

The "new frontier/horizon" is to learn how to write music as complex and intricate as Bach but in the modern soundscape. A repetitive beat, a pad and a few sound FX is NOT music. Any child can do that. The tools have matured now, compositional abilities have atrophied...

I definitely have a drinking problem. I switched to beer for about a week and did MUCH better. Then, I just couldn't stand it anymore a couple of days ago and got the hard stuff.
Not good, because it's the liquid amount I consume, not the concentration/percentage.

Algorithmic composition software will take care of thatInLight-Tone wrote:The "new frontier/horizon" is to learn how to write music as complex and intricate as Bach
Imo, the overall complexity is by no means a measure of musical value.InLight-Tone wrote:A repetitive beat, a pad and a few sound FX is NOT music. Any child can do that. The tools have matured now, compositional abilities have atrophied...
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try
