Best deal ever, and some people still find a way to complain. Amazing. When a new product comes out...you can buy it, or not. They don't owe you anything.

Please bring back Project 5. You don't even have to call it that. Just bring it back all updated with all the old features and some new features.

It's pretty save to say that this isn't going to happen ever.

Maybe not but I'm suspecting that a project 5 type announcement would be the kind of marketing hype people would love to see.

Why? Over the course of two versions they put a lot of money and effort into it and it flopped, so they had to stop it - so why should it be any different these days, now that there's one big player more in the field(Bitwig)?
But your nick already hints at you perhaps not being too good at differentiating between "I want" and "everyone wants"...

Did it flop? I didn't know that was why they got rid of it.

It totally flopped - I got V2 (boxed) for something like 60€ (I think it was 55) and that was before V2.5 i.e. before they promised to bring it to the next level... so you can't say they didn't try.
edit: or was it around the time they released 2.5? I'm not quite sure anymore - but I know that development still was very much alive...

Did it. Happy. Still a good deal...Unfocused wrote:I missed that tidbit of info. Now that makes sense. Still, for $198, lifetime subscription seems worth it. I'd definitely jump on that offer.SJ_Digriz wrote:The email/offer was only for those that did the original AND the extension in 2016. Simply because they those people had paid twice.Unfocused wrote: Well, I hope so. I paid my year subscription for PLATINUM on 12/27/2015. I guess because i was a few days early, I am not seeing the deal (yet?). I reached out to Cakewalk via two methods and still have heard nothing back from them about it.

Anyways, the "complaining" has nothing to do with it being a good deal or not.
Other than the joking around (or people that are still upset about X2 [LIKE ME, bitter I still am] ) have one source of common sense in this matter: They went from what was essentially the "all daws" price, to a sub, and now this.
Something's a miss here.
Being mac isn't a problem. But the constant paradigm change WREAKS of Gibson, shareholders and desperation.
If I'm wrong, that wouldn't be a bad thing

Wouldn't make much sense since Sonar has been more profitable the past 2 years than ever before. Especially with them now being on Steam and having monthly updates which has kept people renewing. Sales are certainly up with the amount of new users we've seen.incubus wrote:Something's a miss here.

No, nothing 'went'. You can still buy it outright, and pay yearly to upgrade or not. Nothing about that has changed. What they've done is give folk an extra options.incubus wrote:Other than the joking around (or people that are still upset about X2 [LIKE ME, bitter I still am] ) have one source of common sense in this matter: They went from what was essentially the "all daws" price, to a sub, and now this.
Instead of buying it outright in one payment, you can optionally buy it over 12 installments. Instead of paying once a year for the update, you can optionally pay one month at a time for that month's set of updates.
And for a limited period of time, they're offering owners of the top-tier version a chance to get upgrades for life.
That's not a 'constant paradigm change', all the original paths still exist, nothing need change for an end-user unless they want it to.
Typical kneejerk hystrionic KVR reaction to being given a choice. "Oh my god, we have an option not to have to pay for updates ever again; something's up, its a trick, Gibson/Cakewalk are being utter bastards....".
