Absolutely awesome. These kinds of vids always inspire yet intimidate the hell out of me. Such thickness without the really nasty edges that hurt your ears. Dude has a real gift.

Couldn't have said it better myself. :) Not only that, but just his style is one of the reasons he's currently one of my favorite composers.

Mick Gordon is a genius! I absolutely love this f**king soundtrack!

It's actually got me sold on diving into Eurorack and getting back into guitar again.

Mick Gordon is a crazy madman that full understood the concept of the game, the history, the soundtrack... he's a fan, and that shines through. He put a lot of thought and love into "Killer Instinct" (2013) - the same happened for "DOOM" (4) - which is a great reimagination of the old Doom games.

I mean... he did not just use one or two famous tracks from the first game and then redid them (e.g. the famous E1M1), he did that with several tracks from the OST - bits and pieces from old versions by Bobby Prince are randomly thrown into the current productions where you least expect them. Speed up, slowed down, dropped by two octaves... doesn't matter... It's metal, it's glitchy industrial - it fits the mood of the game and accelerates the ride even more.

The OC Remix and VG Mix communites did their re-imagination years ago (Doom: Dark side of Phobos, 2005 and Doom 2: Delta Q Delta, 2008), and I loved these reimaginations - but Mick Gordon was recently setting the bar so high, it's not even funny!


And Bethesda Softworks? Think about them what you will, but they revived the "Fallout" series in a good way, they put the same love and effort into Doom and helped the already somewhat damaged (and abandoned) id Software back to their old glory - albeit without their founding members. The whole game is a frigging love letter even without John Romero, John D. Carmack and Adrian Carmack, Bobby Prince, etc. Then again, Romero and Adrian Carmack are currently working on an own shooter again - called "Blackroom", and John D. Carmack is the CTO of Oculus VR.


I really hope the OST is available soon - and it's not as over-compressed like the Killer Instinct release.

And I also hope that we see a part 3 of the documentation... I want to know more about the sound design, if he sent the signal "parallel" out to FX pedals, how much an Eurorack was involved (only for pulsing beats, or also for "sound design" (glitching, distortion, etc), ...



But I'm more interested in what content will be released with the upcoming DLC's ,and if we will see a "Doom II: Hell on Earth - Reimagined" (Doom 5). Would be stupid not to continue the series after the positive reviews so far.

Very cool! I see FL Studio and Pro Tools there, it's amazing what he's able to accomplish! The bar is indeed very high now.

He also used Ableton Live - it's one of the dark skinned host's.

I'd still love to know how he pulled off the pulsating and glitching beats. Is it really just a sine and a white noise run through a distortion device? But where does the high frequency noise come from? Parallel bitreduction? Or Bitreducion -> Distortion (of of his pedals seems to be able to do that).
